Late last year Nobuhiro Ishida announced that he was turning his attention to the Heavyweight division and explained that he wanted to win the Japanese Heavyweight title. At the time it seemed ludicrous to imagine Ishida as a Heavyweight boxer, he had after all made his name as a Light Middleweight and a Middleweight. Surprisingly however he turned out to be a pretty decent fighter at Heavyweight and pushed Japanese champion Kyotaro Fujimoto all the way in an 8 round none title bout on his Heavyweight debut. In his second bout as a Heavyweight Ishida took on Frenchman David Radeff, who like Kyotaro is a former kick boxer. The bout again saw Ishida looking surprisingly good for a Heavyweight, at least early in the bout, though did show that his limitations would keep him from fighting big international names. We won't ruin the bout though we will say that for a 39 year old former Light Middleweight Ishida has become a surprisingly decent Heavyweight and we hope that he will get his rematch with Kyotaro. Rumour is that Kyotaro doesn't want a rematch though it doesn't stop us hoping to see it. (Video courtesy of Nov K)
