May 25th 2002- Dajin High School, Seoul, South Korea Jung Oh Son (5-1-1) vs Na Nam Kook (4-0, 1) In May 2002 Korean fight fans saw Jung Oh Son, who would later get a world title bout with Koki Kameda, battle against Na Nam Kook for the then vacant Korean Flyweight title.

September 5th 2001-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masakazu Satake (12-2-4, 6) vs Hiromu Kuwata (25-7-3, 17) In 2001 Japanese fight fans in Osaka saw Masakazu Satake, the the OPBF Light Welterweight champion, dip his toes above his usual fighting weight to take on fellow Japanese fighter Hiromu Kuwata, himself a former national champion at 140lbs. June 19th 2021-Universum Gym, Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany Phannarai Netisri (7-0, 4) vs Cheyenne Hanson (8-1, 6) This past weekend in Germany fans had the chance to see German based Thai youngster Phannarai Netisri battle against 23 year old German Cheyenne Hanson in a bout for the WBC Youth female Super Bantamweight title. Interestingly this appears to have been only the second ever bout for this title, which was last seen being competed for back in 2017! May 19th 2007-Shinheung University, Uijeongbu City, South Korea Jae Chan Kim (1-0, 1) vs Justin Mattew Chiasson (4-0, 2) In 2007 Korean fight fans in Uijeongbu City saw 22 year old Jae Chan Kim, a future Kyotaro Fujimoto opponent, take on Korean based Canadian born fighter Justin Mattew Chiasson in a bout for the vacant Korean Heavyweight title. October 26th 2002-Jongha Gymnasium, Ulsan, South Korea Ki Dae Chun (0-0) vs Hejiu Kang (1-0) Back in October 2002 Korean fight fans in Ulsan saw the debuting Ki Dae Chun battle again novice Hejiu Kang in a 4 rounder at Featherweight. June 19th 2021-Cosonsa Compound, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines April Jay Abne (5-0, 2) vs Royder Lloyd Borbon (6-9-1, 6) This past weekend promising Filipino youngster April Jay Abne took on Royder Lloyd Borbon in Mandaue City. Although not yet a big name, Abne is among the most talented prospects in the Philippines and is certainly someone who belongs on the radar of fans who love to watch prospects develop into contenders. June 19th 2021-Cosonsa Compound, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines Reycar Auxilo (0-1) vs Zandro Librador (0-0) This past weekend in the Philippines Reycar Auxilo made his professional debut, taking on the debuting Zandro Librador in a 4 rounder. April 20th 2004-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Crazy Kim (18-3, 16) vs Dae Young Kim (4-4-1, 2) In 2004 the wonderfully named Crazy Kim clashed with Korean fighter Dae Young Kim in a bout at Korakuen Hall. At this point in time Kim was a well known fighter, with brutal power who had unified the OPBF and JBC titles at 154lbs, whilst Kim had been a former challenger for the Korean title at Welterweight, Light Middleweight and even Middleweight! August 8th 1995- Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (6-0, 5) vs Kevin Palmer (8-0-1, 6) I In 1995 fight fans in Tokyo saw the hard hitting Naotaka Hozumi [保住 直孝] battle against Japanese based American Kevin Palmer in a bout for the vacant Japanese Middleweight title. Interestingly these two would fight again, in 2001, with that bout being for the OPBF title. November 2nd 1999-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Katsushige Kawashima (13-1, 9) vs Edwin Gastador (8-14-3, 4) In November 1999 future WBC Super Flyweight champion Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋 勝重] faced off with Filipino journeyman Edwin Gastador |
