April 22nd 2015- Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (7-0, 4) Vs Saenrachan Sor Theptanee (0-1) In 2014 we saw Ioka gym's promising Masayoshi Hashizume claim the All-Japan Rookie of the Year crown at Super Flyweight. In his first bout of 2015 he took on Thai visitor Saenrachan Sor Theptanee in a bout that looked like a mismatch on paper. (Video courtesy of yossy112311)

April 24th 2015- Capital Gym, Beijing, China Qu Peng (6-1-1, 4) Vs Dane Campbell (3-2, 2) Boxing really does have some ridiculously stupid titles. One of which is the WBO China National Light Heavyweight title which we saw up for grabs recently when Qu Peng battled Australian visitor Dane Campbell. For what it's worth we're not sure how an Australian qualifies for a "China National" title. April 25th 2015- Capital Gym, Beijing, China Randy Petalcorin (22-1-1, 17) Vs Ma Yi Ming (12-5, 7) The Chinese boxing scene may not be huge but it is growing and the latest "major" bout in China saw China's very own Ma Yi Ming battle promising Filipino Randy Petalcorin for the WBA "interim" Light Flyweight title. The bout, staged in Beijing, may not have been a huge one but it was great to see a world class talent in action in China. April 24th 2015-Siam Paradise Entertainment Centre, Ngam Wong Wan, Bangkok, Thailand Ratchasak KKP (26-3-1, 12) Vs Chaosamut Sithchansing (0-0) Thailand's Ratchasak KKP is best known for twice dropping Rex Tso in a bout in Macau. Although Ratchasak lost that bout he has continued to be active and this past Friday he took on Chaosamut Sithchansing, in what was Ratchak's 4th bout since the fight with Tso. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) April 24th 2015-Siam Paradise Entertainment Centre, Ngam Wong Wan, Bangkok, Thailand Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (35-3, 20)* vs Jopher Marayan (7-5-2, 3) Former WBA interim Flyweight champion Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep may have come up short against Juan Carlos Reveco in December but he has began the rebuilding process. This past Friday the Thai fought for the second time following that loss and took on Filipino visitor Jopher Marayan. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) (*Boxrec don't list Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep Vs Pongpan Pattanakarngym) April 24th 2015-Siam Paradise Entertainment Centre, Ngam Wong Wan, Bangkok, Thailand Noknoi Sitthiprasert (53-4, 30)* Vs Tonpetch Sithchansing (0-0) Thailand's Noknoi Sitthiprasert holds he distinction of the longest active winning streak of any fighter currently in the sport with more than 50 wins. That sounds incredibly impressive though his opponents have scarcely been worth talking about as we saw when he took on the debuting Tonpetch Sithchansing. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) (*Boxrec don't currently listed Noknoi Sitthiprasert Vs Donny Mabao III which took place earlier this year, it is however thought that he could have other unrecorded bouts and this may have slightly more wins than even we credit him with) April 24th 2015- Siam Paradise Entertainment Centre, Ngam Wong Wan, Bangkok, Thailand Panomroonglek Kaiyanghadaogym (44-2, 26) Vs Alwi Alhabsyi (13-21-3, 3) Thai Panomroonglek Kaiyanghadaogym is said to be on the verge of a world title fight. To tick over until then he took on game Indonesian loser Alwi Alhabsyi. Although the bout was a mismatch on paper Alhabsyi impressed us with a gutsy effort. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) July 23rd 2013- Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan Koki Kameda (30-1, 17) Vs John Mark Apolinario (17-2-3, 4) As a Bantamweight Koki Kameda held the secondary WBA "regular" title and often seemed to struggle with opponents who were naturally bigger than him. He did however manage to record some clear and decisive defenses of the title with one of the clearest being this one against Filipino challenger John Mark Apolinario who looked out of his depth through out the bout. March 27th 2010- Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Koki Kameda (22-0, 14) Vs Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (74-3-1, 38) It's fair to say the Kameda brothers are among the most well known families in boxing with their name linked to both controversy and success. Despite the fact all 3 brothers have held titles it's fair to say they haven't fought the greatest of competition. Of all their opponents however one man really stands out, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam a future Hall of Famer and a modern Thai great. In 2010 Koki Kameda, the then WBC Flyweight champion, took on the Thai great as Kameda sought the first defense of his Flyweight crown. *Note-Sound cuts out of this video due to the copyright of one of the ring walk songs October 11th 2007- Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Daisuke Naito (31-2-2, 20) Vs Daiki Kameda (10-0, 7) Boxing is a sport clouded in controversy. From bad judging to the use of performance enhancing drugs, from dis-likable personalities to organising bodies who produce titles on a whim. For Japanese boxing however their is no family as controversial as the Kameda's. One of the many controversial moments that the family were involved in came in 2007 when Daiki Kameda challenged WBC Flyweight champion Daisuke Naito, who was making the first defense of his title. The controversy came from the tactics that Daiki used and the advice from both his father, Shiro, and his older brother Koki, especially late in the bout. |
