January 23rd 2021-RCC Boxing Academy, Ekaterinburg, Russia Asror Vokhidov (8-0, 4) vs Thato Bonokoane (10-3-3, 7) Yesterday in Russian unbeaten Russian based Tajik prospect Asror Vokhidov faced off with South African fighter Thato Bonokoane in a bout for the vacant WBO Oriental Super Bantamweight title. Don't ask, we have no idea how a fighter from South Africa can face a fighter from Central Asia for an Oriental title either.

May 9th 1985-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Jiro Watanabe (23-1, 15) vs Julio Soto Solano (37-5-2, 19) In his second defense of the WBC Super Flyweight title Jiro Watanabe [渡辺二郎] faced off with Julio Soto Solano from the Dominican Republic at Korakuen Hall. June 27th 2006-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Daisuke Naito (28-2-2, 19) vs Noriyuki Komatsu (21-2-5, 9) In June 2006 Japanese Flyweight champion Daisuke Naito [内藤大助] faced off with OPBF champion Noriyuki Komatsu [小松則幸] in a brilliant unification bout between the two title holders. Both men had come up short at world level, with both men suffering losses against legendary Thai Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, but that hardly mattered as they took on each other in a highly anticipated bout at Korakuen Hall. September 13th 1993-Tokyo, Japan Hitoshi Kamiyama (25-2-1, 16) vs Takehito Saijo (13-5-5, 5) III Between 1989 and 1993 Hitoshi Kamiyama [上山仁] and Takehito Saijo [西条岳人] fought 3 times for the Japanese Light Middleweight title. Kamiyama had won the first 2 bouts and was looking to complete a third win against Saijo in 1993, whilst also seeking his 14th defense of the title. For Saijo this was a chance to avenge his previous losses to Kamiyama. What we ended up getting here was a brutal back and forth battle that saw both men being forced to take some real punishment. December 19th 1988-Tokyo, Japan Iwao Otomo (18-2-2, 16) vs Yasuyuki Fukuda (8-5-1, 5) In 1988 Japanese Lightweight champion Iwao Otomo [大友巌] looked for his 9th defense as he took on Yasuyuki Fukuda [福田泰之] in Tokyo. Sadly this isn't the full fight but instead an abridged version that begins in round 7. October 6th 1988-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Iwao Otomo (17-2-2, 15) vs Takehito Nakano (7-3, 3) In 1988 Japanese Lightweight champion Iwao Otomo [大友巌] faced off with Takehito Nakano [中野猛仁] at the Prefectural Gymnasium in Osaka. May 26th 1986-Tokyo, Japan Eiji Okita (13-1-1, 6) vs Shinji Kobayashi (1-1, 1)* In 1986 Eiji Okita [沖田英二] clashed with Shinji Kobayashi [小林信二] in Tokyo, in what was being marketed as a title fight outpost, essentially a bout to set up a Japanese title bout. *Note - Kobayashi's record is shown on screen as being 7-2-1 (5) and not the 1-1 (1) record as listed on Boxrec.com. Given this was a 10 round bout we suspect the on screen record is the complete one and the Boxrec one is very incomplete at this moment in time. February 13th 1989-Tokyo, Japan Iwao Otomo (22-4-2, 9) vs Noboru Godai (19-2-2, 17) In early 1989 Japanese Lightweight champion Iwao Otomo [大友巌], seeking his 9th defense of his title, faced off with Noboru Godai [五代登], who was looking to become the first 3-weight Japanese national champion after previously holding the Japanese Featherweight and Super Featherweight titles. August 12th 1989-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Noboru Godai (24-4-2, 10) vs Takehito Nakano (9-4, 5) In 1989 Japanese Lightweight champion Noboru Godai [五代登], a then 3-weight Japanese champion, took on Takehito Nakano [中野猛仁] a hard hitting but limited challenger who had lost 2 of his previous 4 bouts, including one to the man Godai had beaten for the title..
