On November 2nd the Teiken gym will be promoting a notable card featuring some of their most notable rising hopefuls, including Mikito Nakano, Kuntae Lee, Hayate Kaji and Shuya Masaki, all competing in 8 round bouts. The poster features the 6 Teiken fighters on the card in a simple yet rather effective poster that does nothing amazing, but does look solid.
On September 2nd Teiken will be hosting a cared at Korakuen Hall featuring some of their lesser well known talent. Sadly the poster for the show is a pretty uninspired one, with the fighters in front of a rather dull backing. Certainly not one of the best Japanese posters this year.
Although we think the best card of this coming weekend is the "Triple Header" card set to take place in Texas on Saturday, it is given a bit of a run for it's money as Teiken put on their own excellent show.
Headlined by Shinsuke Yamanaka defending his WBC Bantamweight title against Alberto Guevara the card also features three former world champions with Jorge Linares, Roman Gonzalez and Takahiro Ao all appearing on the WOWOW televised card.
Originally the card had Linares lined up to fight Cuban Richar Abril for the WBA Lightweight title making this a world title double header. Unfortunately Abril got injured leaving Linares fighting Francisco Contreras.
In terms of the poster it unfortunately still makes Linares look like he's the big draw. Sadly this appears to have been due to the late pull out of Abril, though the very tiny parts of the poster devoted to Gonzalez and Ao is a bit disappointing considering their quality and status.
Every major fight needs good promotional posters. This part of AsianBoxing will try and feature some of those posters.
