Johore Bahru, Malaysia
Attention turns to Malaysia this coming Sunday for a small, yet notable, card. The main event is a rare, for Asia, Cruiserweight bout whilst the main under-card bout sees an unbeaten local take on a regional veteran.
The main even will see local puncher Muhamad Farkhan (10-0, 10) take his next step up in class as he takes on Tanzania's Pascal Abel Ndomba (24-9-2, 22), in what looks set to be an explosive encounter. Between them they have only seen the final bell 6 times in 45 bouts, both hit hard and with both now the wrong side of 30 they will have lost some of their reflexes, meaning they should be easier to tag. The winner of this will walk about with 3 regional titles, giving the bout meaning. We suspect the local, who is younger and hasn't been stopped 7 times like Ndomba has, will be the favourite, but this is a step for the unbeaten man.
The bout of note will see 32 year old local hopeful Eswaran Murali (6-0, 4) take on Indonesian veteran Heri Andriyanto (24-31-2, 11) in an 8 round Welterweight bout. Murali has been a pro since early 2018 and is looking to continue his unbeaten record here in what is his most meaningful bout to date. Andriyanto has faced a relative who's who of who over the years, but has become less willing to give fights a go if he's losing, and we suspect we'll see him happily take a loss here.
