This coming Monday attention turns to the Philippines where we get two minor title bouts in Nueva Vizcaya.
The bigger of those bouts will see the hard hitting Carl Jammes Martin (9-0, 8) battle against Chinese fighter Huerban Qiatehe (7-1-2, 2) for the WBO Youth Bantamweight title. The Filipino teenager has picked up a number of minor titles already in his career and will be looking to add to his collection of belts here. Although not too well known outside of his homeland Martin is taking on progressively better opponents and is showing himself to be a legitimate prospect with genuine power. Whilst Martin is a rising hopeful who is showing that he's a credible force there is much less to be said of Qiatehe, who has yet to face anyone with a pulse, and this is a massive step up for him.
The other title bout will see the unbeaten Roy Nagulman (4-0-1, 2) take on Jerry Mae Villagracia (6-5, 2)for the LuzProBA Super Flyweight title. Nagulman made his debut a year ago, at the age of 15, and despite drawing on his debut he does look like there is some promise there. There has, however, got to be some worries about damaging such a prodigious youngster if they push him too hard too fast. Aged 20 Villagracia is a more mature fighter, but he has been stopped in 5 of his last 6 bouts and has likely been selected as a straight forward foe for Nagulman to pick up his first title against.
