A new week kicks off in Japan!
This past Sunday was an interesting one in Japan. Sure it wasn't as fun as the previous Sunday but it was still an interesting enough day of action to keep the local Japanese boxing fans happy with two separate cards across the country.
For us the most interesting of the two cards was at the Aioi Hall in Aichi as Matsuda put in an 11 fight show.
The card, which featured 4 all debutant contests, may have lacked big names but was deep enough to bes entertaining.
We'll start with those 4 all debutant contests which saw Takuya Mizuno (1-0, 1) stopping Yusuke Kubota (0-1) in the third round and likewise Hodekazu Iinuma (1-0, 1) doing the same to Takanori Terashima (0-1). Those two bouts were joined by a pair of split decisions as Yuta Imaizumi (1-0) narrowly overcame Mitsuhide Uchida (0-1) and Tom Hamaguchi (1-0) did the same against Shota Umeya (0-1).
As well as the eight debutants involved in all debutant contests this show also featured one other debutant, Katsuya Takahashi (1-0, 1) who began his career with a third round TKO over Tomoya Tomitani (1-2, 1).
Of course it wasn't just debutants in action and the remaining three bouts scheduled for 4 rounds were each contested between novices. These saw Takahito Osaka (4-0-2, 4) stopping Marcos Sogabe (3-8-1, 3) in 86 seconds whilst Jun Takigawa (2-0, 1) out pointed Kenta Matsui (2-2) and Noriyoshi Taki (2-4, 1) took a majority decision over Kohei Furusawa (2-5).
In the sole 6 rounder of the Matsuda show Daisuke Hayakawa (5-2, 4) stopped Tomoya Sato (4-7-1, 2) early in the second round.
Both of this shows 8 round bouts went the distance. These saw Takashi Omae (11-3-5, 1) narrowly out pointing Yuji Shimizu (14-8-1, 1), in what was clearly an expected distance fight, and Shinji Takayama (20-3, 11) taking a very clear decision over Keita Ito (8-17-2, 4).
On the other show, a VADY promoted card from the Sambo Hall in Kobe, we had nine contests, six of which were scheduled for 4 rounds.
We'll start with those 4 rounders which saw four decision. These saw Yasuyuki Otagaki (3-1-2) over coming Wataru Sako (3-2), Hideya Takayama (2-0-1, 1) defeating the debuting Yuma Yasuda (0-1), Tenmei Serizawa (3-1, 2) shutting out Takuya Fujioka (2-3-1, 1) and the unbeaten Takuya Fukuda (1-0-1) scoring a victory over Ryusuke Hoashi (1-3, 1).
In the other two contests scheduled for 4 rounds we had a pair of blasts. These saw Ryoma Yasuda (3-0, 3) needing just 70 seconds to defeat the debuting Hideyuki Suzaki (0-1) and it took over 3 minutes longer for Kyosuke Takaoka (2-1, 1) to take out the previously unbeaten Raimon Mune (0-1-1).
This card featured a trio of higher profile contests. These saw Kazuki Hashimoto (8-4, 4) stopping Kohei Maruoka (7-5-1, 1) in the sixth, Kazuhiro Nishitani (12-2, 6) stopping Hiroki Tani (8-13-3, 3) in the third round and Shinichiro Morikawa (14-4-1, 9) taking a very close decision over Ryota Kihara (6-7-4, 5).
