May 30th 2003-Jangchung Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (24-2, 13) vs Jae Ho Kim (5-2, 4) In July 2002 Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] lost the WBC Light Flyweight title to Mexican Jorge Arce. Almost 11 months later Choi returned to the ring for the first time and battle against fellow Korean Jae Ho Kim as Choi looked to shake some ring rust against a naturally bigger, though less experienced, foe. March 4th 2007-Chungmu Art Hall, Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (28-5, 17) vs Siwagorn Pradabsri (0-12) In 2007 former world champion Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] faced off with poor Thai opponent Siwagorn Pradabsri, who boxrec don't currently have any recorded wins for. *Note - His boxrec record is assumed to be incomplete January 30th 2001-Central City Millenium Hall, Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (22-1, 11) vs Saman Sorjaturong (45-3-1, 33) II In 1999 Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] defeated the then WBC Light Flyweight champion Saman Sorjaturong [สมาน ส.จาตุรงค์] to claim the title and and put himself on the boxing map. Early in 2001 the two men rematched, in a bout that was originally planned to be in North Korea but ended up in Seoul after a number of out of the ring issues forced the bout to change venue. December 30th 2006-Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (27-5, 16) vs Aphidet Khotchum (0-8) II In June 2005 Korean star Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] scored a 5th round TKO win over Thai visitor Aphidet Khotchum, in what was Choi's first bout since losing to WBA Flyweight champion Lorenzo Parra in September 2004. Sadly after that win Choi would spend 18 months away from the ring, and on his return he took on the limited Thai for a second time. June 17th 2005-Sangdong-Naght, Bucheon, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (26-5, 15) vs Aphidet Khotchum (0-2) I In 2005 former South Korean world champion Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] battled against Thai foe Aphidet Khotchum, in the first of two bouts between the men, who also fought in 2006. Note - The Thai is shown on screen as having a 7-0 (3) record) May 24th 2007-Gwangjingu Hall, Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (29-5, 18) vs Kenichi Onishi (9-4-3, 3) Back in 2007 former world champion Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] saw his career sadly come to an end, following a bout on Christmas day that, ultimately took his life. Earlier that same year the popular Korean had fought several times, including a bout, in May, against Japanese visitor Kenichi Onishi. August 27th 1998-Seongnam Gymnasium, Seongnam, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (17-1, 7) vs Reggie Palabrica (16-10-1, 5) In August 1998 the then OPBF Light Flyweight champion Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] look to make his third defense as he took on Filipino challenger Reggie Palabrica in Seongnam. March 27th 2004-Palpal Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Yo Sam Choi (26-3, 15) Vs Federico Catubay (12-7-3, 7) The tragic Korean warrior Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] was one of the best little men of his time, and one of the last really notable Korean fighters. After a bad run of form he faced Filipino foe Federico Catubay in Seoul, as Choi looked to get his career back on track. December 3th 1996-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Yo Sam Choi (13-1, 5) vs Kenzo Ando (15-4, 4) In 1996 Korean fighter Yo Sam Choi [최요삼] had his first bout away from home, as he travelled to Osaka and faced off with Kenzo Ando for the vacant OPBF Light Flyweight title. |
