April 4th 2012-Arena, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Tepparith Kokietgym (19-2, 12) Vs Tomonobu Shimizu (19-3-1, 9) In recent years the WBA has come under fire from boxing fans and journalists in the West for the way they seem to allow multiple titles with out any real logic. Although Western media has only really began to take notice in the last 2 years or so the JBC actually began to show their annoyance way back in 2011 when they messed about in regards to the WBA Super Flyweight division. In May 2011 Tepparith Kokietgym beat Drian Francisco to claim the WBA Interim Super Flyweight title at the time Hugo Fidel Cazares was the "regular champion". Just months later Tonomobu Shimizu would defeat Cazares for the title. When Shimzu ended up suffering an injury the WBA made him Champion in Recess and upgraded Tepparith so that he was the regular champion and in December 2011 he was allowed to defend against Daiki Kameda, one of the many Kameda related stories that annoyed the JBC. After Tepparith beat Kameda he was contractually obligated to face Shimizu, in a bout that took place just 8 months after Shimzu had won the title. In total the WBA claimed 7 sanctioning fees in less than 12 months following the Tepparith Vs Francisco bout in May 2011, and it's understandable as to why the JBC quickly stamped their view on the WBA's interim titles. For those interested those title bouts were- Tepparith Vs Francisco (Interim) Cazares Vs Arturo Badillo (Regular) Cazares Vs Shimizu (Regular) Tepparith Vs Kameda (Regular) Liborio Solis Vs Jose Salgado (Interim) Tepparith Vs Shimizu (Regular) and Solis Vs Santiago Ivan Acosta (Interim September 25th-2015 Thailand Tepparith Kokietgym (20-3, 19) Vs Boido Simanjuntak (18-29-1, 7) Former WBA Super Flyweight champion Tepparith Kokietgym took part in his 10th bout since losing the world title, to Kohei Kono back on New Years Eve 2012. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) May 12th 2015-Thailand Tepparith Kokietgym (28-3, 17) Vs Hendrik Barongsay (28-21-3, 17) Former WBA Super Flyweight champion Tepparith Kokietgym may have spent almost a year out of the ring in 2014-2015 but he's clearly trying to make up for it now, and today he fought for the 3rd times in as many months as he took on Indonesian southpaw Hendrik Barongsay. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) April 18th 2014- Thailand Tepparith Kokietgym (27-3, 16) Vs Wangxin (?-?) Thailand's Tepparith Kokietgym is best remembered for his reign as the WBA Super Flyweight champion back in 2011-2012. In recent years however his career has faltered with inactivity really being an issue in 2014. Although last year was a frustrating one for the Thai things have turned around a bit this year. Most recently we saw him in the ring against Chinese fighter Wangxin in what looked like a mismatch from the off, but a chance to shed the ring rust and get the engine going again for the 26 year old Thai.
