Those developing fighters have managed to capture the attention whilst one man has become the forgotten figure of Thai boxing. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) September 1st 2012- Sumiyoshi SportsCenter, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Tepparith Kokietgym (20-2, 13) Vs Nobuo Nashiro (18-4-1, 12) Talented Thai Tepparith Kokietgym burst on to the scene in 2011 with a shock win over the touted and then unbeaten Drian Francisco of the Philippines to claim the interim WBA Featherweight title. As a champion however Tepparith never defended his belt at home, instead traveling to Japan for every defense of the belt. One of those defenses came against former 2-time champion Nobuo Nashiro, a determined and tough Japanese fighter who won his first world title in just his 8th professional bout. The contest was compelling with an intimidating crowd supporting their local fighter and is well worth a watch. |
