When we talk about the biggest wins and the biggest shocks this year one result stands out head and shoulders about the others. The stunning knockout win scored by under-rated Filipino puncher Rey Loreto against former IBF Minimumweight champion Nkosinathi Joyi. The win, at the time, was a huge shock though one we had suggested was a possibility given that Loreto is much better than his record indicates. The fight started slowly with both men trying to figure out what the other had but the pace quickly picked up with both men landing plenty of leather and neither man looking all that worried about the power of their opponents. By the end of the round however it looked like Joyi was starting to take over the bout and establish himself. The second round saw Joyi further establishing himself and it appeared he was ready to show off just how good he was as he began boxing beautifully behind his jab and working the body fantastically. At the end of the round however Loreto tagged Joyi with a series of solid shots. Joyi however was saved by the bell as Loreto looked ready to take him out. At the start of round 3 Joyi was still feeling the effects of the shots that ended the previous round and soon afterwards Lereto managed to finish off his man to secure his second successive victory over a world champion, following his excellent victory over Pornsawan Porpramook some 6 months earlier. Sadly we've not seen Loreto in action since this bout but we're really looking forward to his return to the ring which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
