July 1st 2023-University Gym, Bucheon Milan Melindo (39-5, 14) vs Jong Seon Kang (16-1-2, 9) In the summer of 2023 Korean hopeful Jong Seon Kang [강종선] took a notable step up in class, as he took on former unified Light Flyweight champion Milan Melindo, in a clash for the OPBF Silver Featherweight title. For Melindo the bout was his first defense of the title, and whilst he was certainly no natural at 126lbs, he had clearly been draining himself far too much to continue at 108lbs, where he had made a genuine name for himself and faced a who's who of the division. Despite being the bigger man Kang was the much less experienced and had lost just 2 fights earlier to to a different Filipino foe, in the form of Lienard Sarcon, and he likely wanted some revenge for that defeat to Melindo's countryman.
