June 23rd 1997-South Korea Lakva Sim (5-1, 4) vs Bong Chul Kim (31-1-3, 22) In his 6th professional bout Mongolian tough guy Lakva Sim [Дугарбаатарын Лхагва] battled 35 fight Korean veteran Bong Chul Kim in South Korea. For Sim this was his first bout since a close and compelling split decision loss to WBA Super Featherweight champion Yong Soo Choi. The bout would also turn out to be Kim's penultimate bout, with the Korean fighting his final bout around 10 months after this brutal war.

February 24th 1996-Gwangyang Gymnasium, Gwangyang, South Korea Lakva Sim (1-0, 1) vs Gab Yong Lee (3-4, 1) In December 1995 Mongolian fighter Lakva Sim [Дугарбаатарын Лхагва] made his professional debut, winning the PABA title in Indonesia. Just 2 months later he returned to the ring ring, this time in South Korea, where he took on the brave and game Gab Yong Lee. Even at this very, very, early stage in Sim's career it was clear he was one to watch, and just a year later he would be competing in his first world title fight! April 10th 2004-Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Lakva Sim (18-3-1, 15) vs Miguel Callist (18-3-1, 14) Back in 2004 Mongolian fighter Lakva Sim travelled over to the US to take on Miguel Callist for the vacant WBA Lightweight title. Sim, the first ever Mongolian world champion, was looking to become a 2-weight champion whilst Callist, from Panama, was fighting in his first wold title fight. A bout that is genuinely brilliant and often over-looked. December 6th 2003-Gooil Highschool, Seoul, South Korea Lakva Sim (17-3-1, 14) vs Bert Navarez (36-29-2, 17) In April 2002 Mongolian fighter Lakva Sim [Д.Лхагваагийн] lost in Thailand to Yodsanan 3-K Battery, after a bout in the US, against Luis Villalta, he returned to Korea, where he spent most of his career, and faced off with Filipino journeyman Bert Narvaez. January 27th 2002-Bunka Gym, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Lakva Sim (15-2-1, 12) vs Hidekazu Matsunobu (20-4-1, 15) In 2002 Mongolian fighter Lakva Sim went over to Japan to take on Hidekazu Matsunobu in Yokohama. August 21st 2001-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Lakva Sim (14-2-1, 12) vs Tetsuya Shinozaki (13-8-7, 5) In 2001 former world champion Lakva Sim fought in his second bout on Japanese soil, as he took on Tetsuya Shinozaki. March 18th 2001-Jangchung Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Lakva Sim (13-2-1, 12) Vs Seung Ho Yuh (13-0-1, 7) In 2001 former world champion Lakva Sim took on unbeaten Korean Seung Ho Yuh in a good match up on paper September 16th 2005-Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia, USA Lakva Sim (20-4-1, 17) Vs Ebo Elder (22-1, 14) In 2005 Mongolian Lakva Sim, a former 2-weight world champion, battle against Ebo Elder in a WBA Lightweight title eliminator. June 27 1999-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Takanori Hatakeyama (22-0-2, 17) Vs Lakva Sim (10-1-1, 9) In 1999 fans saw an historic bout as Takanori Hatakeyama [畑山隆則] took on Mongolian challenger Lakva Sim [Дугарбаатарын Лхагва]. The bout saw history being created with it's result and saw the loser immediately move up in weight, where he swiftly became a 2-weight world champion. |
