Tanaka went some way to answering the questions about his power in his third fight, a fight that saw him decimate Filipino fighter Crison Omayao inside a round.
Whilst Omayao was best known for his 4th round loss to a debuting Naoya Inoue he was still a highly ranked OPBF contender and no one would have expected a performance like this from Tanaka who really looked sensational and looked every bit the champion in the making that his team and the Japanese boxing press have been making him out to be. In fact Tanaka's performance against Omayao looked more complete than Inoue's did.
After the fight Tanaka said he wanted to fight for the "Toyo" championship, for us in the west that's the OPBF title. With that in mind it seems likely that we will see Tanaka chasing a fight with Ryuji Hara either later this year or early next year.
