March 19th- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Katsuya Onizuka (11-0, 10) Vs Rex Rapiso (11-7-1, 4) Japan's Katsuya Onizuka is well known for his WBA Super Flyweight reign, and the controversy and excitement that occurred during that reign. Here however we have one of his early bouts as he took on, and took out, Rex Rapiso, a former OPBF title challenger. Note-We're sorry about the quality of this footage, it appears to have been transferred from an old VHS.

May 21st 1993-Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan Katsuya Onizuka (21-0, 17) Vs Jae Shin Lim (12-2, 7) When people talk about exciting Japanese fighters it's hard to forget about the brilliant and amazingly entertaining Katsuya Onizuka, AKA "Spanky K". Onizuka was one of those fighters put on a show every time he stepped in the ring, win or lose. One of Onizuka's toughest and most controversial bouts came against the upset minded Jae Shin Kim. Entering this bout Onizuka was the WBA Super Flyweight champion and regarded as a big betting favourite against his supposedly under-qualified foe. |
