July 6th 2015- Korakuen Hall Tokyo, Japan Takuma Inoue (4-0, 1) Vs Mark Anthony Geraldo (31-5-3, 14) Last year we saw Naoya Inoue take the boxing world by storm and rewrite the definition of a "prodigy". Naoya's little brother, Takuma Inoue, isn't a bad fighter either and earlier this month he showed his ability in his first title fight, as he took on experienced Filipino Mark Anthony Geraldo in an OPBF Super Flyweight title bout.

(Video courtesy of tko.in.th) July 17th 2015 Prefectural Gymnasium Osaka, Osaka, Japan Tetsuya Hisada (22-9-2, 12) Vs Atsushi Aburada (10-7, 6) Japanese fighter Atsushi Aburada has had his ups and downs recently. In recent fights he's fought for the Japanese Light Flyweight title and upset the touted Takeru Kamikubo. He looked to continue his interesting career recently by taking on Japanese contender Tetsuya Hisada in what looked to be a very significant fight for both men. (Video courtesy of Nov K) June 10th 2015-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Hisashi Amagasa (28-5-2, 19) Vs Patomsith Pathompothong (12-3, 5) At the end of 2014 Hisashi Amagasa went from being a fighter totally unknown outside of Japan to being a fighter who managed to force a memorable bout with Guillermo Rigondeaux. The fight with Rigondeaux saw Amagasa ending the bout a swollen mess but as a fighter who was suddenly a "name". Sadly it took 6 months for Amagasa to return after the loss to Cuban, though he fought his return in a packed Korakuen Hall as he took on Thailand's Patomsith Pathompothong, a stablemate of Amnat Ruenroeng and Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr, who had both scored big upset wins in Japan. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) July 17th 2015 Prefectural Gymnasium Osaka, Osaka, Japan Riichi Kawase (6-6-3, 1) Vs Hiroki Yoshimura (7-11, 4) Not every fight out there is a bit one though some times the lower level bouts are some of the most interesting. On paper Riichi Kawase Vs Hiroki Yoshimura didn't look like much, but it certainly wasn't the worst bout we've seen recently. (Huge thanks to Nov K for uploading this video) July 12th 2015- Sunhak Gymnasium Incheon, South Korea Kyoo Hwan Hwang (1-0, 1) vs Chan Hee Park (5-5-1) Earlier this year our sources in Korea told us to keep an eye out for Kyoo Hwan Hwang, a Korean prospect who was young, talented and former amateur stand out. We did and we were rather impressed by him on his debut. In his second bout Hwang fought for the Korean Light Middleweight title and took on Chan Hee Park in what was an entertaining encounter. July 12th 2015- Sunhak Gymnasium Incheon, South Korea Jin Soo Kim (6-4, 3) vs Woo Min Won (6-1, 3) Korean boxing is stereo-typically associated with brawling, wild fights and a lack of educated nuance. One such fight that lived up to that stereo-type was the recent Korean (KBC) Light Welterweight title fight between Woo Min Won and Jin Soo Kim. There is little real skill on offer but some good old fashion swinging for the fences! July 12th 2015- Sunhak Gymnasium Incheon, South Korea Young-Bin Kim (10-3, 7) vs Hyun-Tae Bae (3-0, 2) A recent Cruiserweight bout in South Korea saw the unbeaten Hyun Tae Bae take on take on former Korean Light Welterweight champion Young Bin Kim. Looking at the fighters it was clear Bae was the naturally bigger man, but as we all know, size isn't the only thing needed to win in the squared circle |
