March 25th 2016-Municipality of Paborn , Phatthalung, Thailand Saenganan Sithsaithong (15-0, 7) vs Eric Panza (9-6-1, 2) Thai teenager Saenganan Sithsaithong [แสงอนันต์ ศิษย์ทรายทอง] is one of the many Thai's who is getting attention at a young age. Recently he faced off against Filipino Eric Panza for an IBF regional Bantamweight. Note-Saenganan has also fought as Sanganan KKP.

December 5th 1973-Gimnasio Nuevo Panama, Panama City, Panama Lion Furuyama (30-5-2, 21) Vs Antonio Cervantes (65-9-3, 28) In 1973 Japan's Lion Furuyama got his first world title shot, as he went up against the legendary Antonio Cervantes. October 27th 1976-Jissen Rinri Hall, Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan Shoji Tsujimoto (24-2-2-, 12) Vs Pipino Cuevas (16-6, 14) In 1976 Japan's Shoji Tsujimoto challenged the Mexican teenager sensation Pipino Cuevas, who was making the first defense of the WBA Welterweight title. April 13th 1986-Indoor Arena, Gwangju City, South Korea Jung-Koo Chang (29-1, 12) vs German Torres (52-9-1, 42) III In the space of 2 years Korean fighter Jung Koo Chang [장정구] and Mexican fighter German Torres fought a trilogy. Here is the third fight from that trilogy. January 15th 1989-Crocodile Farm, Samut Prakan, Thailand Khaokor Galaxy (20-1, 15) vs Duk-Hwan Bae (6-7-1, 3) In 1988 Khaokor Galaxy [วิโรจน์ แสนคำ] became a world champion, joining his twin Khaosai. He would reclaim a world title in 1989 and between his two reigns he would face Korean Duk Hwan Bae in a stay busy bout. June 3rd 1982-Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA Chul Soon Hwang (5-0, 1) Vs Alberto Davila (43-7, 19) In 1982 Chul Soon Hwang [황철순]. a 1976 Olympian, took on the experienced Alberto Davila, who would later go on to claim a world title. Note- The video lists the Korean as being Chul Hwan Seul (20-4-1, 8). Boxrec however go with Chul Soon Hwang (5-0, 1) March 31st 1984-Kooduk Gymnasium, Busan, South Korea Jung-Koo Chang (23-1, 11) vs Sot Chitalada (4-0, 3) In 1984 Korean great Jung Koo Chang [장정구] fought Thailand's Sot Chitalada [สด จิตรลดา], in the first of two bouts between the two men. The two would later meet in 1990. September 30th 2007-Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines Donnie Nietes (21-1-3, 13) vs Pornsawan Porpramook (20-0, 15) In 2007 fans saw Filipino fighter Donnie Nietes fight in his first world title fight, as he took on unbeaten Thai Pornsawan Porpramook [พรสวรรค์ ป. ประมุข] for the vacant WBO Minimumweight. February 20th 1997-Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Hiroshi Kawashima (20-2-1, 14) Vs Gerry Penalosa (35-1-1, 24) Japan's Hiroshi Kawashima [川島郭志] ended his career in 1997 with the under-rated fighter going up against Filipino fighter Gerry Penalosa. Coming in to this fight Kawashima was the WBC Super Flyweight champion whilst Penalosa was fighting in his first world title fight. |
