March 18th 2015-Sukjai Resort, Wangnoi, Ayutthaya, Thailand Terdsak Kokietgym (54-5-1, 34) Vs Yakobus Heluka (8-9, 1) Last year we all Thailand's Terdsak Kokietgym go to war with Orlando Salido in a bout for the WBO Super Featherweight title. Sadly for Terdsak he came up short in that bout certainly made some new fans who saw his style and heart. Since then he fought twice with the most recent of those bouts being against Indonesian fighter Yakobus Heluka in a bout for the WBA Asia Super Flyweight title. On paper it was a mismatch but it was an opportunity for Terdsak to keep ticking over and continue his busy schedule. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th)

Back in September we saw Thai veteran Terdsak Kokietgym battle in a thrilling world title bout with Mexico's Orlando Salido. That bout was certainly one that will have taken it's toll on the longevity of both men, especially Terdsak who was stopped in eye catching fashion following a really great effort. Just a few weeks later we saw the Thai back in the ring in a very different type of fight as he took on novice pro Hengka. Despite the war with Salido we saw Terdsak show no ill effects here as he made extremely light work of his seriously over-matched foe, in fact it's fair to saw Terdsak has had harder sparring sessions than this bout which was ended with a thudding ans vicious body shot from the Thai. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) Last year we had a real FOTY contender in Mexico at Super Featherweight as Takashi Miura and Sergio Thompson traded knockdowns in an all out war. This year we had something similar as Terdsak Kokietgym travelled to Mexico traded knockdowns with Orlando Salido, again in a FOTY contender at 130lbs. We won't ruin what happens here though we will say this is a truly sensational bout and one of the front runners for FOTY. If you like knockdowns this one is for you. We've got to admit that the only knock on this sensational contest is the referee who was genuinely appalling, though the fighters themselves did put on a real show. |
