April 8th 2011- World Memorial Hall, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Takahiro Ao (20-2-1, 9) Vs Humberto Mauro Gutierrez (28-2-1, 20) It's fair to say that Takahiro Ao's reign as the WBC Super Featherweight champion was less than brilliant with just 3 successful defenses of the title. Not only was the number of defenses relatively lacking but so too were he manner of those defenses with the sole highlight coming when he took on former interim champion Humberto Mauro Gutierrez in an all southpaw bout

March 12th 2009- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Takahiro Ao (16-1-1, 8) Vs Oscar Larios (63-6-1, 29) II In 2008 Japanese fighter Takahiro Ao fought in his first world title fight and came up short against Mexican veteran Oscar Larios, who successfully defended the WBC Featherweight title with a split decision win. Just 5 months later the two men clashed for a second time with Ao looking to avenge his sole defeat and Larios looking to claim a second win over the then touted Ao. September 25th 2005- Arena, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Takahiro Ao (8-0, 5) Vs Jae Choon Moon (6-0, 3) In recent years Takahiro Ao has become a fixture on the world title scene having claimed world titles at both Featherweight and Super Featherweight. In 2005 however Ao was merely a promising prospect and in his 9th bout he took on the then unbeaten Jae Choon Moon of South Korea. Japanese fighters rarely win titles in multiple weight classes though one of the few who has won world title in more than 1 division is Takahiro Ao who has previously held titles in both the Featherweight and Super Featherweight divisions. Ao is, and has been for a while, on the hunt for a Lightweight title. This video is from the early stages of his move to Lightweight, in fact it was actually his second successive bout about the 130lb Super Featherweight limit and saw him taking on the completely over-matched Edgar Alejandro Lomeli in a bout that was little more than a stay busy fight for the Japanese fighter. Fought on November 10th 2013 the bout came less than 13 months after Ao's loss to Gamaliel Diaz,a loss that saw Ao losing his WBC Super Featherweight title. Ao however looked like a man ready to go at world level once more and seemed to treat Lomeli with contempt as if the suggest the two men were in totally different leagues.
