Whilst we love all action fights in the lower weights there is still something magical about Heavyweights, maybe it's the power, maybe it's something historical or maybe we're just fans of watching larger than life fighters in action but the Heavyweight division has some extra magnetism to almost every boxing fan. Sadly on this site we don't get to talk too much about the Heavyweight division however this past Friday night saw a Chinese Heavyweight giant make his professional debut and leave a lasting impression. That man was Taishan Dong, a 7'0" fighter than some are calling "The Great Wall". Dong made his debut in pretty impressive fashion by stopping Alex Rozman in 2 rounds and showed that, for such a big man, he does have some genuine technique, surprisingly speed and hurtful power. Although he looked unrefined at times Dong did what he had to do to leave fans talking about him and to give Asia boxing one of it's very few interesting Heavyweight prospects. Incidentally another Chinese Heavyweight, Zhang Zhilei, will be making his debut in a few weeks time. Hopefully Zhang, Dong and even the little known Zhang Junlong will be able to cause a wave in Chinese Heavyweights. Even though the Chinese people are typically small the odds are they will have a least one very good Heavyweight prospect there somewhere.
