October 26th 2002-Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym, Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippines Manny Pacquiao (34-2-1, 25) vs Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym (37-2, 23) Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao claimed the IBF Bantamweight title when he beat Lehlo Ledwaba and followed that win with a series of defenses in the US. On his return to the Philippines he took on Fahprakorn Rakkiatgym, in what was a short cameo for Filipino fans. June 23rd 2001-MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Manny Pacquiao (32-2, 23) vs Lehlo Ledwaba (33-1-1, 22) Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao made his US debut back in 2001 when he was a late replacement to face the then highly regarded Lehlo Ledwaba, who then held the IBF Super Bantamweight title. The 22 year old Pacquiao took the fight on 2 weeks notice and made the most of his unexpected opportunity. March 15th 2003-Luna Park Quirino Grandstand, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines Manny Pacquiao (35-2-1, 26) vs Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov (17-5-1, 8) In 2001 Manny Pacquiao claimed the IBF Super Bantamweight title, the second world title of his great career. As the IBF champion at 122lbs Pacquiao made numerous defenses, but also fought in some non-title bouts, one of which came against Kazakh fighter Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov. June 28th 2000-Araneta Coliseum, Barangay Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines Manny Pacquiao (28-2, 19) vs Seung Kon Chae (23-0, 18) In 2000 Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao took on unbeaten Korean Seung Kon Chae in a bout for the WBC International Super Bantamweight title. December 6th 2008- MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Manny Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35) Vs Oscar De La Hoya (39-5, 30) When we go through Manny Pacquiao's career one of his most notable bouts was his 2008 clash with the "Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya, a bout that many thought Pacquiao would be too small for. August 3rd 1995-Mandaluyong Gym, Mandaluyong Sports Center, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines Manny Pacquiao (4-0, 1) vs Acasio Simbajon (4-1-1, 2) In the mid 1990's Filipino fight fans had the chance to see a very young Manny Pacquiao begin to rise through the ranks. Here we see a then 16 year old Pacquiao battle the 22 year old Acasio Simbajon in a 6 rounder. June 26th 1997-Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines Manny Pacquiao (19-1, 11) vs Chokchai Chockvivat (34-2, 16) Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao fought in his first title bout way back in 1997 when he faced the then OPBF Flyweight champion Chokchai Chockvivat from Thailand. Coming in to this Chokchai had recorded 8 title defenses whilst Pacquiao was a long way from being the legend that he would later become. |
