July 7th 2018-Barys Arena, Astana, Kazakhstan Beibut Shumenov (17-2, 11) Vs Hizni Altunkaya (30-1, 17) This past Saturday fight fans had the chance to see Kazakh fighter Beibut Shumenov return to action to take on Turkish - German fighter Hizni Altunkaya for the vacant WBA "regular" Cruiserweight title, the 4th concurrent WBA Cruiserweight title.

April 19th 2014-DC Armory, Washington, District of Columbia, USA Beibut Shumenov (14-1, 9) Vs Bernard Hopkins (54-6-2-1, 32) In 2014 Kazakh fighter Beibut Shumenov took on American legend Bernard Hopkins in a WBA/IBF Light Heavyweight title fight. June 2nd 2012- Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Beibut Shumenov (12-1, 8) vs Enrique Ornelas (33-7, 21) In his 4th defense of the WBA Light Heavyweight title Beibut Shumenov took on Enrique Ornelas. January 8th 2011-Sport Palace, Shymkent, Kazakhstan Beibut Shumenov (10-1, 6) vs William Joppy (39-6-2, 30) In 2011 the then WBA Light Heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov took on former Middleweight champion William Joppy. May 9th 2009-Stadium Khadjimukan, Shymkent, Kazakhstan Beibut Shumenov (7-0, 5) vs Byron Mitchell (27-4-1, 20) In just his 8th bout Beibut Shumenov went up against former world champion Byron Mitchell. Decemeber 13th 2008-Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue, Washington, USA Beibut Shumenov (6-0, 5) vs Epifanio Mendoza (28-6-1, 24) During the early part of his career Beibut Shumenov looked like a fighter we would be talking about for a while. Technically he was solid, though unspectacular, but he had a hunger to face good fighters and early in his career he was taking veteran punchers with some ambition left. Here we see him, in his 7th bout, taking on Epifanio Mendoza. January 29th 2010-Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Beibut Shumenov (8-1, 6) Vs Gabriel Campillo (19-2, 6) In 2009 Kazakhstan's Beibut Shumenov lost for the first time, suffering a narrow decision defeat to the then WBA Light Heavyweight Gabriel Campillo. The following year the two men met in a rematch, a rematch which had some of the worst scoring in recent memory. August 15th 2009-Sport Complex “Daulet”, Astana, Kazakhstan Beibut Shumenov (8-0, 6) Vs Gabriel Campillo (18-2, 6) In 2009 Kazakh fans saw the fast rising Beibut Shumenov, in just his 9th fight, face off with Spanish fighter Gabriel Campillo. The bout saw Shumenov attempt to claim the WBA Light Heavyweight title and set a divisional record however Campillo had ideas of upsetting the then promising Kazakh. July 25th 2015-Palms Casino and Resort, Pearl Theater, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Beibut Shumenov (15-2, 10) Vs BJ Flores (31-1-1, 20) Kazakh fighter Beibut Shumenov may not be the best fighter on the planet but he's been relatively happy to test himself. Earlier this year we saw him face BJ Flores in a bout for the WBA interim Cruiserweight. We won't lie and say this was a thrilling bout, but it was great to see how improved Shumenov was compared to the fighter he was just a few fights back. |
