March 24th 2024- Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Shin Jae Kang (0-0) vs Sung Nam Lim (0-0) This past weekend in Seoul fight fans saw an all debutant 4 rounder as Shin Jae Kang and Sung Nam Lim clashed in a bout at a contracted 73KG's (161lbs). As with many novice bouts in Korea there was a lack of boxing IQ here but there was no lack of heart or action, as the two fighters each dug deep looking to win, and begin their career with a 1 in the W column.

March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Ju Yeong Jeong (2-0-1, 1) vs Jong Hyun Choi (1-1, 1) This past weekend we got an interesting bout at 154lbs in South Korea as the unbeaten Ju Yeong Jeong clashed with Jong Hyun Choi in a scheduled 4 rounder. The bout saw both men looking for a victory, with some bombs thrown by both fighters. Although not an all out intense war, like we regularly see in South Korea, this bout had a sense of a fight that was tense, with both feeling they had the power to take the other out, but also knew they could be taken out at any moment. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Do Kyum Kim (0-1) vs Joo Eun Lee (0-0) One thing Korean boxing has given us over the years is thrilling action fighters, and all action fights. We got one such fight this past weekend as the win-less Do Kyum Kim clashed with debuting Joo Eun Lee in Seoul, in a 4 round Bantamweight clash. The bout lacked in terms of technical skills and and ring IQ but made up for it it in intensity, exchanges and brutal back and forth action, giving fans a genuine treat March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Chan Lee (1-0) vs Sung Keun Kang (1-0) This past weekend on a Won Promotions show the unbeaten pairing of Chan Lee and Sung Keun Kang clashed in a 4 rounder. Like many bouts in Korea the two men involved lacked in terms of defense and finese, but made up for it in heart, determination and the desire to exchange bombs in what was a thrilling, action packed and hectic clash with some incredibly exciting back and forth exchanges. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Sun Woo Jung (0-1) vs Jae Won Yuh (0-1) This past weekend Seoul played host to the latest show from The Won Promotion. One of the more interesting bouts on the show saw Sun Woo Jung take on Jae Won Yuh in a 4 round match up at Super Featherweight. For both men this was their second professional bout, and both men were looking to claim their first win after losses on their debuts. Although not a major bout it was hotly contested, entertaining and a really well matched bout that saw both men showing what they could do, and both men looking better than their 0-1 records suggested. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Seung Hyub Baek (0-0) vs Ji Un Kim (0-0) This past weekend Korean Welterweight debutants Seung Hyub Baek and Ji Un Kim clashed in a scheduled 4 rounder in Seoul. The bout, like many Korean novice bouts, was relatively low in skill but high in action and entertainment as the two men put it all on the line, looking to kick their professional career off with a win. March 24th 2024 - Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Hyung Joo Kim (2-1, 1) vs Dong Woo Kim (3-1-1, 3) This past weekend The Won Promotion held a card in Seoul. One of the bouts on that card was a 4 round Super Middleweight bout, as novices Hyung Joo Kim and Dong Woo Kim faced off. Coming into this Hyung Joo Kim had been out of the ring for over a year, and had strangely fought one time in each of the last 3 years. Dong Woo Kim on the other hand had been out of the ring for 11 months, though had fought twice in both 2022 and 2021. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Hyung Kyoo Park (1-1) vs Young Ryul Kim (2-1) This past weekend Seoul played host to a number of bouts, at the Gwanakgu Hall. One of those bouts was a 4 rounder between Hyung Kyoo Park and Young Ryul Kim, who clashed at 135lbs. Although not the most highly skilled bout this was really exciting, and action packed, as we saw both men throwing bombs in a thrilling shoot out of a bout. March 16th 2024- Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul Sung Chul Kang (4-0-1) vs Juanito Paredes (11-11-1, 5) On March 16th Seoul played host to a KBM Lightweight title fight, as unbeaten local hopeful Sung Chul Kang [강성철] took on Filipino veteran Juanito Paredes, for the vacant South Korean title. For Paredes this was his third bout, from his last 4, in South Korea. He has been stopped in those previous two bouts, though both had been at Light Middleweight and for this fight he was fighting at a more suitable weight of 135lbs. As for Kang the 21 year old local was looking to extend his unbeaten run to 6 fights, since making his debut just over a year ago. March 16th 2024-Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul Min Jang (10-0-2, 2) vs Dong Young Lee (3-6-2, 1) II Back on March 16th Korean fans saw the ring return of unbeaten 23 year old hopeful Min Jang [장민], who returning to the ring for the first time in over 4 years, as he took on Dong Young Lee [꾸준히] in Seoul. Jang had last fought back in January 2020 when he beat Junhui Zhao for the WBA East Super Bantamweight title, and whilst he was the favourite coming in to this bout, this was at Super Featherweight. Notably Lee had fought 5 times since Jang was last in the ring, and had fought at high as Light Welterweight in that time. One other thing to note, is that these two had fought before, back in 2018 when Jang gave Lee his first professional loss, in a 4 rounder. |
