Augsut 23rd 2015- Kobe, Hyogo, Japan commission Japan Boxing Commission Tom Yankun Tsukamoto (6-4-1, 2) Vs Satoshi Momota (9-10, 4) Not all bouts are fought with prospects, champions or contenders. Others are fought between low level fighters each looking to participate in a sport that they enjoy and try and improve in an attempt to climb through the rankings. One such fight saw Tom Yankun Tsukamoto battle Satoshi Momota in what was a bout between two low level fighters each hoping to score another win on their record. One such bout was the recent contest between Yuya Nakazato and Shachihoko Dragons Keita. One such bout saw Kento Haraguchi battle against Yuki Sueyoshi in a competitive 4 rounder. (Video courtesy of Westbook Satoshi) August 23rd 2015- Art Center, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Hikaru Matsuoka (8-3-3, 1) Vs Shuhei Tamura (5-5-1, 2) A recent Japanese bout saw the once touted Hikaru Matsuoka battle against Shuhei Tamura in an intriguing Super Bantamweight bout. Coming in to this one both men had suffered back-to-back defeats and both would have felt that they would have needed a win here. (Video courtesy of Westbook Satoshi) August 23rd 2015-Art Center Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Teiru Kinoshita (21-1-1, 5) Vs Cyborg Nawatedani (9-2-2, 4) Controversy in boxing is nothing new though few results have elicited the reaction that boxing fans in Japan gave the recent Super Flyweight bout between former world title contender Teiru Kinoshita and rising hopeful Cyborg Nawatedani. The but has been one of the few that we've received angry messages about and one that made newspaper headlines in Japan due to the controversy, it has also lead to some suggesting that the JBC need to review the result and punish judges for their scoring of the contest. (Footage courtesy of Westbrook Satoshi) May 9th 2015-Gymnasium of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Vratsa, Bulgaria Zhanat Zhakiyanov (24-1, 17) v Hector Rolando Guzman (14-0, 9) Rising Bantamweight hopeful Zhanat Zhakiyanov is tipped by some as a future champion. At times however he has looked very poor, as seen in his bout, earlier this year, with Hector Guzman. August 20th 2015-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Satoshi Hosono (27-2-1, 20) v Tatsuya Otsubo (8-6-1, 3) Japanese Featherweight champion Satoshi Hosono is a man looking to move towards a 4th world title fight. Until he gets that opportunity he'll have to make do with just being the champion of Japan. His latest defense came against Japanese Cinderella Man Tatsuya Otsubo, who began his career 2-6-1 before really turning this around and earning this shot at Hosono. August 20th 2015-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Akira Yaegashi (21-5, 11) Vs Said M Said (10-5-1, 4)* Japan's Akira Yaegashi is one of the most popular fighters in Japan following his 2-world title reigns and numerous exciting bouts. This past week he was in a stay busy contest as he took on Indonesian Said M Said in a Flyweight contest. *Boxrec listed Said as 2-2 (1), Fuji TV went with 10-5-1 (4), other sources state 10-4-1 (4) August 22nd- Gimnasio Sokol, Antofagasta, Chile Tenkai Tsunami (21-10, 10) Vs Carolina Rodriguez (14-0, 1) Japanese veteran Tenkai Tsunami was back in action this past weekend as she challenged IBF female Bantamweight champion Carolina Rodriguez, a huge star in Chile. |
