March 7th 2015-Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China Amnat Ruenroeng (14-0, 5) Vs Zou Shiming (6-0, 1) The Flyweight division has given us some underground classics in recent years, it has also given us a high profile stinker. That stinker was the IBF Flyweight title fight between Thailand's slippery and tricky Amnat Ruenroeng [อำนาจ รื่นเริง] and China's Zou Shiming [邹市明], who met MArch 2015 in what was one of the most significant bouts in Chinese boxing history.

November 18th 2015-Mercedes-Benz Arena, Shanghai, China Zulpikar Maimaitiali (3-0-1, 1) Vs Shu Quang Geng (0-0) Chinese boxing needs exciting fighters if it's to grow in the way that many hope it will. One of the most exciting of the emerging fighters is Super Middleweight Zulpikar Maimaitiali [祖力皮卡尔·买买提艾力] who can be seen showing his aggressive style here against Shu Quang Geng [耿曙光]. September 26th 2015-Mercedes-Benz Arena, Shanghai, China Zulpikar Maimaitiali (1-0-1, 1) Vs Song Lin Fu (1-0) One of the many fighters who caught our eye on the Macao show's was Zulpikar Maimaitiali [祖力皮卡尔·买买提艾力] who fought to a draw on a notable Macau card. Despite his foray to Macau he has typically made a name for himself fighting on the Chinese mainland, in Shanghai, with one of his early bouts being against fellow Chinese novice Song Lin Fu [付松林]. July 18th 2015-Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China Zulpikar Maimaitiali (1-0, 1) v Joo Young Kwon (3-0) The Macao shows have given us some real variety on western TV, including a bout between Zulpikar Maimaitiali [祖力皮卡尔·买买提艾力] and Joo Young Kwon, This was certainly the first time we'd seen Maimaitiali and he certainly impressed us for such a novice. November 27th 2009-Future Park Plaza, Rangsit, Thailand Oleydong Sithsamerchai (32-0, 12) Vs Juan Palacios (26-2, 21) One of the more notable Thai's of recent times is Oleydong Sithsamerchai [โอเล่ห์ดง ซีพีเฟรชมาร์ท], a former WBC Minimumweight champion is currently angling, albeit slowly, towards a Super Flyweight title fight. One of Oleydong's bouts down at 105lbs saw him take on tough Nicaraguan Juan Palacios. October 26th 2001-Indoor Basketball Gymnasium, Hat Yai, Thailand Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (41-2, 23) Vs Alex Baba (18-1, 14) When we talk about modern greats it's hard to ignore Thai Flyweight Pongsaklek Wonjongkam [พงษ์ศักดิ์เล็ก ศิษย์คนองศักดิ์] who was, for years, the top Flyweight on the planet. Despite his long reign he did fight some relatively unknown fighters, including Alex Baba, who would later become a "journeyman" of sorts picking up a lot of losses before his career was over. June 2rd 2012-Resorts World Hotel, Newport Performing Arts Theatre, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines Donnie Nietes (29-1-3, 16) Vs Felipe Salguero (16-3-1, 11) Filipino fighter Donnie Nietes has made a career out of beating Mexican fighters, one of the many Mexican fighters to try and over-come Nietes was Felipe Salguero. January 30th 2016-Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, Shanghai, China Ryota Murata (8-0, 5) Vs Gaston Alejandro Vega (24-10-1-1, 10) Japan's Ryota Murata [村田 諒太] kicked off his 2016 in Shanghai this weekend when he took on Argentinian veteran Gaston Alejandro Vega. October 13th 2008-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (15-2-1, 13) Vs Wayne Parker Jr (7-1, 2) Japanese Super Middleweight Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] has been one of the few Japanese fighters to make any sort of a mark at 168lbs. In one of his more notable bouts he took on Wayne Parker Jr in an OPBF title bout. April 13th 2009-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (16-2-1, 14) Vs Jae Myung Lee (9-0, 7) Historically Japanese fighters haven't made much noise above the "lighter" weights however it's fair to say that Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] has changed that slightly. The same cannot be said of Korean's who had two of the more notable fighters in the early days of the Super Middleweight division. In 2009 Kiyota faced the then unbeaten Korean Jae Myung Lee. |
