Very recently Japanese fans got to the chance to see Kyohei Tamakoshi challenge Rikki Naito for the Japanese Super Featherweight title. That bout was yet another set back in the long career of Tamakoshi which began back way back in 1999 which has sadly seen him coming up short in various title fights in Japan. Although Tamakoshi has lost to the most notable fighters he has faced domestically he does hold one, major, international win and that was scored on 10th December 2011 when he travelled to Mexico and battled against the hard hitting Dante Jardon. The bout was supposed to be another win for Jardon, who had won his previous 18 bouts, but turned out to be the career defining victory for Tamakoshi who stopped the Mexico in sensational fashion. At the time this was considered a major upset and derailed the rise of Jardon who was later given a world title bout with Takashi Miura. As with this bout Jardon came up short against Miura who stopped him in a vicious and one sided beat down. Whilst Tamakoshi may be the "nearly man" on the Japanese domestic he will always have this great win to remember. (Video courtesy of Senrimakobe)
