December 29th 2015-Ariake Colosseum Tokyo, Japan Takuma Inoue (5-0, 1) Vs Rene Dacquel (15-5-1, 5) In 2015 we saw Japanese youngster Takuma Inoue claim the OPBF Super Flyweight title. In his first defense he took on Filipino foe Rene Dacquel. (Video thanks to 高嶋史郎) July 6th 2015- Korakuen Hall Tokyo, Japan Takuma Inoue (4-0, 1) Vs Mark Anthony Geraldo (31-5-3, 14) Last year we saw Naoya Inoue take the boxing world by storm and rewrite the definition of a "prodigy". Naoya's little brother, Takuma Inoue, isn't a bad fighter either and earlier this month he showed his ability in his first title fight, as he took on experienced Filipino Mark Anthony Geraldo in an OPBF Super Flyweight title bout. March 2013- Kofu, Japan Kosei Tanaka (N/a) Vs Takuma Inoue (N/a) When we talk about amateur rivalries few can compare to the sensational rivalry between Kosei Tanaka and Takuma Inoue. The two men fought regularly in Japanese amateur tournaments before they both turned professional in 2013 and we believe they managed to fight 5 times. From what we understand this was the 5th and final meeting between the two hotly tipped prospects, both of whom are now expected to have major success in the professional ranks. It's amazing to think now, less than 4 years later, Takuma is competing with full grown men in the professional ranks and doing much more than just holding his own. (Video courtesy of AllBoxing) August 7th 2013- Japan Takuma Inoue (N/a) Vs Shokichi Iwata (N/a) Right now we're keeping a close eye on the Inoue family. We know Naoya Inoue has broken out from the crowd and in the next year or two we expect to see the same from his younger brother Takuma Inoue. Both of the Inoue's were outstanding amateur fighters and a lot of the expectation on their shoulders comes from that amateur background. Sadly however not all good amateurs turn professional and one of those better amateurs to have remained in the unpaid ranks, at least for now, is Shokichi Iwata. Iwata and Takuma traded blows in the 2013 Interscholastic Light Flyweight final and and what a good fight it was. Notably Iwata had beaten another hotly tipped youngster, Kosei Tanaka, in the semi-final of this tournament! (Video courtesy of Takaetu Inoue) July 25th 2011- Astana,Kazakhstan Takuma Inoue (N/a) Vs Shohrubek Nabiyev (N/a) We all know that Naoya Inoue was a stand out amateur though so to was his brother, Takuma Inoue. In 2011 Takuma was part of the Japanese team at the World Junior Championships. In the second round of the tournament Takuma battled against Uzbekistan's talented Shohrubek Nabiyev in what was a compelling contest between two frightfully young but extremely talented youngsters. (Video courtesy of AIBABoxing) December 30th- Metropolitan Gym, Tokyo, Japan Takuma Inoue (3-0, 1) Vs Nestor Daniel Narvaes (20-2-2, 9) If you've followed the Japanese boxing scene over the last few years it's become obvious that the country is on the verge of a real golden age. One of the most outstanding fighters is Naoya Inoue who is a 2-weight world champion after just 8 bouts and was regarded by many as the 2014 Fighter of the year. Naoya's younger brother, Takuma Inoue, isn't too shabby himself and recently scored his best win with a very clear decision victory over one-time world title challenger Nestor Daniel Narvaes. If you've not yet seen Takuma this is a great opportunity to see the youngster in action, trust us you will be impressed considering his inexperience and age, in fact he only turned 19 a few days before this fight. (Video thanks to gentidori) The quick rise through the ranks of Naoya Inoue has been incredible and earlier this year he became the quickest Japanese fighter to win a world title by stopping Adrian Hernandez in 6 rounds. On the same show fans also had the chance to see Naoya's younger brother Takuma Inoue in action as he scored a genuinely amazing victory over Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. This was Inoue's second professional bout and he was already competing in 8 rounders and even more impressively he was doing it against a world ranked foe in the form of Sakkreerein who had, just a few months earlier, taken out former world champion Ryo Miyazaki in one of the biggest upsets, at least on paper, of 2013. Sakkreerin had been universally ranked by the 4 world organisations, he had had previous 5 and in terms of experience he was far superior to Inoue who had fought just 6 professional rounds. None of these things helped the Thai however as Inoue out boxed him to a clear 8 round victory that helped Inoue claim several world rankings. The performance wasn't as impressive as his brothers but the 18 year old Takuma made it clear that he, just like Naoya, was a super talent. (Footage courtesy of gentidori) |
