April 8th 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Keita Obara (23-4-1, 21) Vs Shoki Sakai (25-11-2, 13) Last week fight fans at Korakuen Hall were treat to a thrilling bout as Japanese Welterweight champion Keita Obara [小原 佳太] took on the incredibly tough Shoki Sakai [坂井 祥記] in what turned out to be a brilliant for the belt. For Obara this was the first defense of a title he won in February 2020 whilst Sakai was looking to claim a Japanese title in just his third bout in Japan.

Back on December 26th the team from A-Sign boxing took over the Sumida City Gymnasium, in Tokyo and put on an excellent post-Christmas show that really had everything we would want to see on a show. Sadly the promoter hasn't yet uploaded the individual bouts from the show, but has left the full show up in it's live stream form, so those who missed it live don't need to miss out! The show began with Kojiro Nishikawa [西川 宏次郎] facing Daiju Kogo [向後 大寿] over 6 rounds. The second bout on the show was a rematch between Takuya Yamaguchi [山口 拓也] and Masashi Noguchi [野口 将志]. The third bout was between the hard hitting Kai Chiba [千葉開] and youngster Haruki Ishikawa [石川春樹]. The "reimported boxer" Shoki Sakai [坂井 祥記] took on the tough Takeru Kobata [小畑 武尊] in bout #4. The fifth bout was the highly anticipated Japanese Youth Light Welterweight title bout between Jin Sasaki [佐々木尽]and Aso Ishiwaki [石脇麻生]. The penultimate bout saw former 2-time world title challenger Ryo Akaho [赤穂亮] take on youngster Yuto Nakamura [中村 祐斗] And the final bout on the show saw former WBO Super Featherweight champion Masayuki Ito [伊藤 雅雪] battle reigning OPBF Super Featherweight champion Hironori Mishiro [三代大訓], in a mouth watering match up. August 31st 2020-Shinjuku FACE, Tokyo, Japan Shoki Sakai (23-11-2, 13) vs Hironori Shigeta (6-1-1, 3) Last week we saw Shoki Sakai [坂井 祥記] make his Japanese debut, following more than 30 bouts outside of Japan. He took on 2017 All Japan Rookie of the Year winner Hironori Shigeta [重田裕紀] in what turned out to be a fantastic battle between two men who's styles quickly gelled. If you missed this one live it's seriously worth a watch, and is a fantastic little war. November 26th 2016-Gimnasio Municipal, Torreon, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico Shoki Sakai (21-6-1, 13) Vs Jose Lopez (26-6-2, 15) Back in late November fights fans in Mexico had the chance to see Mexican based Japanese fighter Shoki Sakai take on Jose Lopez in a very intriguing match up on paper. August 6th 2016-Arena Coliseo, Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico Shoki Sakai (21-5, 13) Vs Luis Jesus Vidales (9-4, 5) Earlier this month Mexican fans saw Mexican based Japanese fighter Shoki Sakai battle against Luis Jesus Vidales in a bout that saw the great Ricardo Lopez disagree with the bout's scoring. |
