In his third defense he took on former 2-time champion Shoji Oguma. February 3rd 1981-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Shoji Oguma (35-8-1, 20) vs Chan Hee Park (15-2-2, 6) III In 1981 we saw the third and final bout between Shoji Oguma [大熊 正二] and Chan Hee Park [박찬희], it was their third bout in the space of 9 months and ended their short rivalry. October 18th 1980-Miyagi Prefectural Gymnasium, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan Shoji Oguma (34-8-1, 20) vs Chan Hee Park (15-1-2, 6) II Just 5 months after the first bout between Shoji Oguma [大熊 正二] and Chan Hee Park [박찬희] we got the second bout, this time in Japan. The two men would meet again the following year. Coming into this bout, their first one, Park was the WBC Flyweight champion having won the title in March 1979, beating the great Miguel Canto, and having recorded 5 defenses coming in to this bout. For Oguma it was a chance to become a 2-time champion, though he had failed to win his previous 6 world title bouts, going 0-5-1 in them. May 12th 1981-City Gymnasium, Mito, Ibaragi, Japan Shoji Oguma (36-8-1, 20) Vs Antionio Avelar (27-8-1, 22) In 1980 Shoji Oguma [大熊 正二] became a 2-time world champion, claiming the WBC Flyweight title. In his 4th defense of that title he took on Mexican puncher Antonio Avelar. |
