January 3rd 1980-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Sung Jun Kim (25-6-5, 11) vs Shigeo Nakajima (12-2-1, 7) In January 1980 Korean fighter Sung Jun Kim [김성준], the then WBC Light Flyweight champion, travelled to Japan hunting his 4th defense. In the opposite corner was the talented, but frustrating , Shigeo Nakajima [中島成雄], talented yet lazy Japanese fighter.

September 17th 1980-Civic Center, Gifu, Gifu, Japan Shigeo Nakajima (13-3-1, 7) Vs Hilario Zapata (13-1, 5) II In early 1980 Shigeo Nakajima [中島 成雄] lost the WBC Light Flyweight title, in his first defense, to rising Panamanian Hilario Zapata. The men would later have a rematch, just 6 months after their first bout. The first bout, for those interested, can be seen here Shigeo Nakajima Vs Hilario Zapata I March 24th 1980-Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Shigeo Nakajima (13-2-1, 78) Vs Hilario Zapata (10-1, 5) I In January 1980 Shigeo Nakajima [中島 成雄] claimed the WBC Light Flyweight title, in his first defense, just over 2 months later, he took on the rising Panamanian Hilario Zapata. A rematch would follow later in 1980 before Nakajima retired in 1981. March 7th 1978- Tokyo, Japan Bernabe Villacampo (37-16-4, 24) Vs Shigeo Nakajima (8-0-1, 5) In recent years we've seen Japanese fighters get fast tracked to the top with alarming success. That however hasn't always been the case and sometimes it has back fired spectacularly. Back in the 1970's Shigeo Nakajima was hoping to be fast tracked and in just his 10th bout he took on Filipino puncher Bernabe Villecampo a dangerous 3-time world title challenger and then then GAB Flyweight champion.
