May 14th 2016-Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Hong Kong S.A.R., China Ryota Murata (9-0, 6) vs Felipe Santos Pedroso (13-1, 11) This past Saturday Japan's Ryota Murata [村田 諒太] made his Hong Kong debut as he took on Brazilian puncher Felipe Santos Pedroso. November 7th 2015-Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Ryota Murata (7-0, 5) Vs Gunnar Jackson (22-6-3, 8) Japanese boxing hasn't had many names above Super Featherweight making a mark internationally. One man hoping to change that is Ryota Murata, a 2012 Olympic gold medal winner. Murata, who is co-promoted by Top Rank and Teiken, recently made his US debut as he faced Gunnar Jackson in what was a very solid match up for a man fighting in just his 8th pro bout. Sadly however Murata failed to leave the impression that he was hoping for and later admitted himself that he was disappointed with how he fought. May 1st 2015- Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Ryota Murata (6-0, 4) Vs Douglas Damiao Ataide (13-1-1, 6) Japanese Middleweight hopeful Ryota Murata took a notable step up in class in his 7th professional bout as he took on world ranked Brazilian Douglas Damiao Ataide, who entered the bout as the WBO #15 ranked Middleweight. On paper it was a great step up for Murata though one that he was expected to win and continue his rise towards a world title fight. September 5th 2014- Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) Vs Adrian Luna Flores (17-2-1, 11) In his first 4 bouts as a professional fighter Ryota Murata scored 4 straight stoppages. In his 5th bout however he took a step up in class and battled the tough Adrian Luna Flores. It was a big step up in class and turned out to be an excellent learning experience as well as the start of a great relationship which has flourished with Flores since becoming a regular sparring partner for Murata and helping him sharpen up his skills and stamina. |
