March 28th 2015- Poliforum Zamna, Merida, Yucatán, Mexico Rommel Asenjo (26-3, 20) Vs Juan Francisco Estrada (31-2, 22) When we talk about the best fighters on the planet it's hard to swoon over Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada who really is something special. This past Saturday we saw Filipino fighter Rommel Asenjo attempt to over-come the outstanding Mexican and claim unified Flyweight world titles. May 23rd 2009- Medina Gymnasium, Barangay Maningcol, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, Philippines Rommel Asenjo (13-2, 11) vs Sadiki Abdulazizi (7-2, 4) A few years ago Rommel Asenjo came to the attention of international boxing fans when he fought Raul Garcia for the WBO Minimumweight title. Prior to that he had caught the eye of Filipino domestic fans for his exciting style which had seen him score a lot of early wins. Whilst the Garcia bout was his first world title bout he had previously contested for regional titles with his 2009 clash against Sadiki Abdulazizi being for the WBO Oriental title. We won't pretend Asenjo looked awesome here but he did look a lot of fun. (We apologise for the poor quality of this video) |
