A great example of that was the fact he twice faced Ophat Niamprem, aka Samransak Singmanasak.

April 15th 2016-The Melbourne Pavilion, Flemington, Victoria, Australia Randy Petalcorin (23-1-1, 18) Vs Omari Kimweri (15-3, 6) Not many bouts get reviewed by the WBC but earlier this year the WBC reviewed a Flyweight bout between Filipino puncher Randy Petalcorin and Australian based Omari Kimweri, who traded blows for the WBC silver Flyweight title. April 25th 2015- Capital Gym, Beijing, China Randy Petalcorin (22-1-1, 17) Vs Ma Yi Ming (12-5, 7) The Chinese boxing scene may not be huge but it is growing and the latest "major" bout in China saw China's very own Ma Yi Ming battle promising Filipino Randy Petalcorin for the WBA "interim" Light Flyweight title. The bout, staged in Beijing, may not have been a huge one but it was great to see a world class talent in action in China. We all know there are too many world titles right now and that they are diluting the sport and cheapening the achievement of being a world champion. It's irritating to the fans and a little bit demeaning to the fighters. We don't applaud the proliferation of titles but they do help fighters become more well known and that's in many ways a good thing. After all we want more fighters to be known, not fewer. With that in mind we looked forward to the recent WBA interim Light Flyweight contest between Australian based Filipino Randy Petalcorin and Panama's Walter Tello and although we had prior commitments when it was aired live we were lucky enough to get the footage we which bring you here. We won't Ruin the fight though we hope you enjoy it because it is an enjoyable, and interesting bout even if it's not the most exciting. (Note the sound cuts out due to rights issues with the music that was used in the live broadcast. From when the fight starts there is no commentary.) |
