October 24th 1988- Tokyo, Japan Koheita Tanaka (11-6-2, 5) Vs Mitsuo Imazato (22-13-1, 12) Today the Japanese Bantamweight scene is incredible. Back in the 1980's it wasn't quite as deep, but was still brilliant with the likes of Naoto Takahashi and Mark Horikoshi. Another two notable names form the 80's were Koheita Tanaka [田中小兵太] and Mitsuo Imazato [今里光男] who faced off in 1988, with Tanaka defending the Japanese title against Imazato, a former champion looking to reclaim the title that he actually lost to Takahashi. June 6th 1987-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Naoto Takahashi (11-0, 7) vs Mitsuo Imazato (22-10, 12) II In February 1987 Naoto Takahashi [高橋直人]claimed the Japanese Bantamweight title by stopping Mitsuo Imazato [今里光男] in the 5th round. Just 4 months later the two men had a rematch. Note-this video begins with the finish from their first bout, with Imazato being stopped.
