July 4th 2009-Parc des Expositions Les Arènes, Poitiers, Vienne, France Mahyar Monshipour (31-3-2, 21) Vs Anselmo Moreno (25-1-1, 8) When fight fans think of French based Iranian Mahyar Monshipour we immediately think of his 2006 FOTY with Somsak Sithchatchawal, which saw him lose the WBA Bantamweight title. In 2009 he tried to reclaim that title by taking on Panama's brilliant Anselmo Moreno.

March 18th 2006-Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan, Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine, France Somsak Sithchatchawal (45-1-1, 35) Vs Mahyar Monshipour (28-2-2, 19) There haven't been many fights outside of North America that have been regarded by Ring and the BWAA as the "Fight of the Year", one exception is the brilliant war between Thailand's Somsak Sithchatchawal [สมศักดิ์ ศิษย์ชัชวาลย์] and French-Iranian Mahyar Monshipour [مهیار منشیپور]. The bout, at the time, seemed to suggest that the boxing was becoming more "new age" and looking outside of the US for some highlights, but sadly in the years that followed attention has gone back to the US. April 29th 2005-Palais des Sports, Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France Shigeru Nakazato (24-7-1, 18) Vs Mahyar Monshipour (26-2-2, 17) Iranian Frenchman Mahyar Monshipour [مهیار منشیپور] is well known for his war with Somsak Sithchatchawal, however that wasn't his only bout of international note. Here we see the "Little Tyson" battling against Shigeru Nakazato [仲里繁], who was in his third world title challenge. November 8th 2004-Palais Omnisports Paris Bercy, Paris, Paris, France Yoddamrong Sithyodthong (39-1-1, 17) Vs Mahyar Monshipour (25-2-2, 16) It's fair to say that French-Iranian fighter Mahyar Monshipour [مهیار منشیپور] is well known for a fight against a Thai, Somsak Sithchatchawal, that however wasn't his first boyut against a fighter from Thailand. Prior to the famous Somsak bout he faced former world champion Yoddamrong Sithyodthong [ยอดดำรงค์ ศิษย์ยอดธง], who was facing Monshipour in an attempt to reclaim his old title. |
