February 25th 2015- SP Stainless Sport Ground, Bangkok, Thailand Kongputorn CPFreshmart (7-0, 5)* Vs Kompetch Twins Gym (0-4)** Regular visitors will know we really rate Thai youngster Kongputorn CPFreshmart, a young Thai who may be the best prospect in Thailand. The talented and destructive puncher has looked sensational so far in his career though has faced less than testing foes. The most recent of those foes was Kompetch Twins Gym who tried to fight back again Kongputorn and certainly wasn't in the ring just to make up the numbers. *We KNOW Boxrec.com are missing 2 of Kongputorn's previous bout, as well as this one. One of those bouts was his debut victory against Veeradej Manoprungroj whilst the other was his win over his win over Jomyuthlek sor Narongchai, not to be confused with another of Kongputorn's bouts against a Sor Narongchai fighter. **Kompetch's record also appears to have missing bouts, unfortunately we're uncertain on the specifics though it seems hard to believe that he has been a professional since 2010 and only fought 4 times, especially when we look at his competition in some of those recorded bouts. February 5th 2015- Nakhon Sawan, Thailand Kongputorn CPFreshmart (5-0, 3) Vs Zhang Fang Yon (0-1) One of the many Thai's who has caught our eye in the last year has been Kongputorn CPFreshmart who appears to be a monster in the making at Flyweight. The Thai fought for the sixth time as a professional earlier this week as he defended his WBC Youth Flyweight title against Chinese challenger Zhang Fang Yon. To be polite this was a destruction and a brutal one by Kongputorn. **Boxrec refuse to acknowledge Kongputorn's debut win over Veeradej Manoprungroj, which can be seen here (Video courtesy of TKO.in.th) December 26th 2014-Thailand Kongputorn CPFreshmart (5-0, 4) Vs Joel Kwong (1-7, 1) One Thai we've liked this year is Kongputorn CPFreshmart who has genuinely impressed us with his style which looks rather natural, though does come from a successful time on the Muay Thai circuit. Kongputorn's final bout of 2014 saw him fighting against tough Filipino Joel Kwong who, despite his record, is a really tough fighter and has been the distance with some of the most notable names on the Thai circuit. Despite looking like a mismatch it was a good test for the promising southpaw. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) When we talk about the best Thai prospect it's impossible to ignore the brilliant Kongputorn CPFreshmart who always looks like boxing comes so naturally to him. Kongputorn's 5th win as a professional boxer saw him almost snap Denchumpol Sor Narongchai in half with a vicious right hand to the body. The bout was genuine a walk in the park for the talented prospect who again showcased the traits that caught our back when he debuted. His defense, calmness, shot selection and handspeed all make him stand out but the finishing blow was just something else. [For those who want to say Kognputorn is is 3-0, not 5-0 we actually have the footage of all of his bouts so far, boxrec have made an error with his record] (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) When talking about promising Thai prospects we do admit we think very highly of Kongputorn CP Freshmart who does appear to have the talent to go a very long way. Sadly to see how good Kongputorn really is we will need to see him in with more testing opponents than Jomyuthlek sor Narongchai who looked completely inept against the promising and unbeaten man that some, including ourselves, view as a potential world champion. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) One of a number of Thai fighters coming through the professional ranks right now is Kongputorn CPFreshmart who recently began boxing professionally after a very successful Muay Thai career. Having started his career in June, with a victory over Veeradej Manoprungroj, Kongputorn has already scored 3 victories. Kongputorn's third bout saw him battling against China's Zhu Yuan Kai and for the first time in his short career Kongputorn was taken the distance as he successfully claimed the WBC Youth Flyweight with a clear decision victory. On paper it as a "poor result" being taken 10 by his unknown Chinese opponent though in reality doing 10 rounds this early in his career will have done Kongputorn the world of good and really should help him prove to his team that he can be matched with better opponents than what he has been in with so far. There is a lot to like about him and showed it again here. Whilst Kongputorn's future may not be as "the face" of Thai boxing he certainly has the potential to go very far and we home he manages to live up to that potential, especially considering what he showed here. (Video courtesy of Boxers in Thailand World boxing - Boxing) Although Boxrec.com is as close to a complete collection of boxing records as there is out there it does have some holes and some missing fights. At the time of writing one such fight is the contest between Kongputorn CPfreshmart and Veeradej Manoprungroj. The bout was the debut for Kongputorn who was then fighting under the name "Kongphutorn Nor Nophirun" and it was, according to boxrec, Veeradej's first bout in well over a year and a half. Despite it being Kongputorn's debut he was an excellent Muay Thai fighter and skills showed wonderfully here when he put on a show-case performance and knocked out his foe in very impressive fashion. It's a shame the bout hasn't been recorded on boxrec but that doesn't take away from what was a fantastic debut for one of the future stars of Thai boxing. (Video courtesy of Boxers in Thailand World boxing - Boxing) Earlier this year former Muay Thai fighter Kongputorn CPFreshmart began to test the professional boxing waters. He made his debut on June 10th when he defeated Veeradej Manoprungroj though at the moment that bout isn't yet on boxrec.com Kongputorn's first bout "recorded" on boxrec was his actually his second bout, his contest with Lomnauo Sakberlin, according to boxrec Sakberlin was also a debutant though we've been informed this was also his second professional bout. Despite both men being professional novices this was actually pretty good bout and one that made it obvious that Kongputorn had had fighting experience prior to the contest. In fact Kongputorn looked very good with fast hands, lovely variety of shots and very comfortable in the ring. In fact he idea that he was only fighting in his first or second "bout" was laughable when you saw him putting his shots together. We'll be bluntly honest he looks like a tremendous talent. (For those eagle eyed viewers you will spot there is no round 3. We're not sure why the round is missing sadly, though we would like to thank boxers in Thailand World boxing - Boxing for the video) |
