August 26th 1996-Seoul, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (14-0, 12) vs Alfredo Baguio (12-10, 10) In August 1996 future Korean world champion Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] battled against the limited, but heavy handed, Alfredo Baguio, who could punch but had little else going for him coming in to this bout with a rampaging Korean monster.

February 8th 1995-Seoul, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (9-0, 9) vs Al Coquilla (22-9-3, 16) In early 1995 future world champion Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] took Filipino veteran Al Coquilla in Seoul in a scheduled 10 rounder. Coming in to this Baek was 9-0 (9) and was seeking a 10th straight early win. (Note -This appears to be a digest version of the bout) July 6th 1999-Gudeok Gymnasium, Busan, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (19-0, 17) vs Esteban Lorenzo (1-0-1)* In the summer of 1999 future world champion Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] took on Mexican foe Esteban Lorenzo. Note - Lorenzo appears to have been 9-3 (3) heading into the bout, as per the on screen graphics. This is very believable given his Boxrec record looks incomplete at the time of writing. August 23rd 1995-Gwangmyeong Indoor Gymasium, Gwangmyeong, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (11-0, 11) vs Jae Kyung Kim (1-0) In August 1995 future world champion Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] was involved in an absolute thriller with fellow Korean Jae Kyung Kim in Gwangmyeong. This is wonderfully exciting and a brutally brilliant fight. January 30th 2000-Pohang Indoor Gymnasium, Pohang, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (21-0, 18) vs Kyu Chul Choi (15-1-1, 9) In January 2000 the then WBA Super Featherweight champion Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] took on fellow Korean Kyu Chul Choi [최규철]. This was Baek's first defense of the title following a very controversial win over Mongolian warrior Lakva Sim. May 21st 2000-Harrah's Casino, Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jong-Kwon Baek (21-0-1, 18) Vs Joel Casamayor (20-0, 12) In the late 1990's Korean puncher Jong Kwon Baek [백종권] was on the rise and a serious puncher. In 2000 the Korean, the then WBA Super Featherweight champion, took on unbeaten Cuban Joel Casamayor. October 31st 1999-Gudeok Gymnasium, Busan, South Korea Jong Kwon Baek (20-0, 18) Vs Lakva Sim (11-1-1, 10) In 1999 fans saw Lakva Sim [Дугарбаатарын Лхагва] become the first Mongolian world champion. In his first defense he faced heavy handed Korean Jong kwon Baek [백종권]. Between them the men had 31 wins with 28 KO's and had only been the distance in 5 combined bouts. |
