August 29th 1999-Osaka Dome, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Jong Kil Kim (20-10-4, 13) vs Hisao Arai (21-3-2, 15) In August 1999 Korean fighter Jong Kil Kim, the then OPBF champion at 140lbs, travelled to Japan and faced off with Japanese puncher Hisao Arai [新井 久雄] at the massive Osaka Dome, in front of around 40,000 fans.

January 7th 1995-Tokyo, Japan Hiroyuki Sakamoto (17-0, 14) vs Jong Kil Kim (10-7-4, 7) In 1995 Hiroyuki Sakamoto [坂本博之]looked to record his 18th straight win as he took on teak tough Korean warrior Jong Kil Kim. Although never a star Kim was a good test for anyone with his impressive ruggedness and he did later win the OPBF title at 140lbs. When he got in the ring you knew to expect a war. Likewise Sakamoto, the "Japanese Duran", was also known for his instant classic. December 6th 1995-South Korea Jong Kil Kim (12-9-4, 8) vs Kil Taek Kim (0-1)* II In December 1995 Korean fight fans had the chance to see the second bout between Jong Kil Kim, the then South Korean champion at 140lbs, and Kil Taek Kim. These two had clashed a few months earlier, with Sang Oh Kim taking a decision over the novice, and was now looking to make a statement in a rematch between the men. *Note - Kil Taek Kim's record is shown on screen as being 4-2 (3) whilst Boxrec list him as 0-1. February 25th 1995-Sajik Gymnasium, Busan, South Korea Jong Hoon Yuh (17-3, 10) vs Jong Kil Kim (10-8-4, 7) II In 1993 Jong Hoon Yuh [유종훈] defeated Jong Kil Kim [김종길] in the first of 4 bouts between the men. Following that win Yuh won the South Korean title at 140lbs and in 1995 he made his second defense, in his first rematch with Kim. The two men would also go on to fight in 1996 and 1999, with both of those bouts being for the OPBF Light Welterweight title. April 2nd 2000-Chiak Gymnasium, Wonju, South Korea Jong Kil Kim (21-11-4, 14) vs Thongchai Treeviset (35-8, 27) In April 2000 former OPBF Light Welterweight champion Jong Kil Kim took on Thai foe Thongchai Treeviset in Wonju, in what turned out to be Kim's penultimate career bout. November 28th 1998-Bucheon Gymnasium, Bucheon, South Korea Jong Kil Kim (18-10-4, 11) Vs Jong Jong Pacquing (56-21-6, 29) In November 1998 Jong Kil Kim [김종길] of South Korea clashed with Filipino Jong Jong Pacquing for the vacant OPBF 140lb title. |
