August 20th 2000-Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Joma Gamboa (28-5-1, 20) vs Noel Arambulet (12-1-1-1, 8) II In October 1999 Filipino fighter Joma Gamboa was beaten by Noel Arambulet. The following year the two would rematch, with Arambulet being stripped of the WBA title, that he'd won in the first Gamboa fight, for failing to make weight. August 20th 2000-Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Joma Gamboa (28-5-1, 20) Vs Noel Arambulet (12-1-1, 8) Back in 2000 Japanese fight fans saw Filipino fighter Joma Gamboa took on Noel Arambulet in a bout for the unified WBA Minimumweight title. In the build up to the bout Gamboa was the interim champion and Arambulet was the regular champion, though had been stripped the day before the fight for failing to make weight. January 29th 2002-Pacifico, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Keitaro Hoshino (22-7, 6) vs Joma Gamboa (31-6-1, 22) II In 2000 Keitaro Hoshino beat Joma Gamboa to claim the WBA Minimumweight title. Just 13 months later they would meet again, for then then vacant title. December 4th 1999-Inae Sports Center, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan Joma Gamboa (26-5-1, 19) Vs Satoru Abe (23-2-1, 10) In late 1999 Satoru Abe took on Filipino Joma Gamboa for the WBA "interim" Minimumweight title. |
