In the Western Hemisphere we do tend to feel that Chinese boxing revolves around Zou Shiming and whether you like that or not he does get a lot of the headlines. Thankfully what he also does it brings attention to some other boxers from either the Chinese mainland or the Special Administrative Regions such as Rex Tso and Kuok Kun Ng, both of whom we do like watching. One other man who is getting a lot of attention and opportunities courtesy of Shiming is IK Yang, AKA Yang Lian Hui. Yang is a man with a TV friendly style that seems different to many Chinese boxers, he seems to have skills but also the heart and mentality of a fighter. He's flash when he wants to be but serious when he needs to be. Part of that warrior mentality will be his Chinese roots though another part will be due to where he started his boxing career. South Korea. What we have in this video is one of Yang's very early fights, in fact it's his 4th fight which took place in Eumsonggun back in December 2007 and saw Yang stepping up for his first 8 rounder and taking on Chang Il Kim, who would later fight for the South Korean Light Welterweight title. Amazingly Yang had only been a professional for just 6 months going in to this bout yet was already competing in 8 round bouts and showing the skills that he can rely on when he needs to.
