November 13th 1988- Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Hiroki Ioka (10-0-1, 6) vs Napa Kiatwanchai (7-0-1, 4) II In June 1988 Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] defended the WBC Minimumweight title with a draw against Thailand's Napa Kiatwanchai [นภา เกียรติวันชัย]. The two men met again in November in their second, of three, meeting.

October 18th 1987-Kinki University Auditorium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Hiroki Ioka (8-0, 5) vs Mai Thomburifarm (11-1, 4) In 1987 an 18 year old Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] took on Thailand's Mai Thomburifarm for the vacant WBC Minimumweight title. A win for Ioka would see him become the youngest Japanese world champion, at 18 years 9 months and 10 days. June 5th 1988-Kinki University Auditorium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Hiroki Ioka (10-0, 6) vs Napa Kiatwanchai (6-0, 3) In just over a year during the late 1980's fans saw Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] face off against Thailand's Napa Kiatwanchai three times. He's their first bout, from June 1988. February 25th 1997-Central Gym, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Hiroki Ioka (30-5-1, 16) vs Jose Bonilla (21-3, 11) In 1993 Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] had his first attempt at becoming a 3-weight world champion. In 1995 he had his second shot, and in 1997 he had his third shot, as he took on Jose Bonilla,the then WBA Flyweight champion. April 29th 1998-Aichi Prefectural Gym, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan Hiroki Ioka (32-6-1, 17) vs Satoshi Iida (23-1-1, 11) In 1998 Japanese fans saw Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] attempt to become a 3-weight world champion, as he challenged the then WBA Super Flyweight champion Satoshi Iida [飯田覚士]. October 17th 1995-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Saen Sor Ploenchit (22-0, 5) Vs Hiroki Ioka (27-4-1, 14) In the 1990's Japanese fans saw Hiroki Ioka [井岡 弘樹] make several attempts to become the first Japanese 3-weight world champion. Here we see him challenging the then WBA Flyweight champion Saen Sor Ploenchit [แสน ส.เพลินจิต ], who had actually won the title from David Griman who had himself beaten Ioka November 18th 1992-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Myung Woo Yuh (36-1, 14) Vs Hiroki Ioka (21-2-1, 9) In 1991 Korean great Myung Woo Yuh suffered his professional defeat, courtesy of a razor thin decision to Hiroki Ioka. Around 11 months after their first meeting they fought for a second time with Yuh looking to avenge his sole defeat and reclaim the WBA Light Flyweight title, a belt he had defended a remarkable 17 times prior to facing Ioka. December 17th 1991-Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Myung Woo Yuh (36-0, 14) Vs Hiroki Ioka (18-2-1, 9) When we talk about the great Light Flyweights of all time we seem to always mention two fantastic Korean fighters. One of them was Jung Koo Chang, the Korean Hawk who kept a vice like grip on the WBC title for much of the 1980's, and the other was long term WBA title holder Myung Woo Yuh. Yuh's reign saw him twice fight Japan's Hiroki Ioka, the uncle of current world champion Kazuto Ioka, and this was their first meeting in 1991. |
