February 7th 2010-World Memorial Hall, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Denkaosan Kaovichit (48-1-1, 20) vs Daiki Kameda (15-2, 11) II In 2009 Japan's Daiki Kameda [亀田 大毅] challenged WBA Flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit [เด่นเก้าแสน เก้าวิชิต] from Thailand. That bout saw Denkaosan retain his title by narrow decision and lead to a rematch the following year. October 2nd 2010-Arena Roberto Duran, Panama City, Panama Denkaosan Kaovichit (50-2-1, 20) Vs Luis Concepcion (21-1, 16) In 2010 Denkaosan Kaovichit [เด่นเก้าแสน เก้าวิชิต] travelled to Panama to take on the big punching Luis Concepcion in a bout for the WBA interim Bantamweight title. September 3rd 2013-Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Denkaosan Kaovichit (61-3-1, 26) vs Nobuo Nashiro (19-5-1, 13) In 2013 we saw Japan's Nobuo Nashiro [名城 信男] fight for the final time, as he travelled to Thailand to face Denkaosan Kaovichit [เด่นเก้าแสน เก้าวิชิต] in a bout for the WBA interim Super Flyweight title. November 4th 2007-Super Arena, Saitama, Saitama, Japan Takefumi Sakata (31-4-1, 15) Vs Denkaosan Kaovichit (40-1, 16) In 2007 Takefumi Sakata [坂田健史] and Denkaosan Kaovichit [เด่นเก้าแสน เก้าวิชิต] fought in the first of two bout between the two men, with the second coming one one of the now traditional New Year's Eve cards in 2008. December 31st 2008-Sun Plaza Hall, Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan Takefumi Sakata (33-4, 15) Vs Denkaosan Kaovichit (45-1-1, 19) II It's fair to say that 2007 was a memorable year in the career of Japanese Takefumi Sakata. The Japanese fighter finally claimed a world title, stopping Lorenzo Parra in what was their 3rd meeting, avenging a couple of close defeats, avenging a loss to Roberto Vasquez and fighting to a draw with Denkaosan Kaovichit. At the end of the following year he faced Kaovichit in a rematch. Coming in to this one Sakata was hoping to record the 5th defense of his title. It's fair to say that 2014 has been a year of mixed emotions for Kohei Kono. He kicked off the year expecting it to be a big year for his career and early on it looked that way as he lined up a fight for the WBA Super Flyweight title against Thailand's Denkaosan Kaovichit. Sadly the months following the bout have been thoroughly frustrating for the Japanese hard man who has been frozen out of action due to domestic issues with the man he is expected to fight next. Rather than dwelling on the issues however we thought we'd bring you this video of the bout between Kono and Kaovichit which certainly a notable fight. Even more so when you consider that Kaovichit had beaten Kono's compatriot Nobuo Nashiro in his previous bout and that this bout was both a world title bout and a chance to reignite the always great Thailand Vs Japan rivalry. We won't ruin the bout though we are looking forward to seeing both men in the ring again before the year is over. |
