June 24rd 2013- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ayaka Miyao (14-5-1, 1) Vs Mari Ando (10-4, 5) II In September 2012 Japanese fans saw Ayaka Miyao take a hard fought decision over Mari Ando to claim the WBA Atomweight title. Just 9 months later Miyao found herself defending the title for the second time as she again met Ando (Note the record shown on screen for Miyao is wrong and doesn't include some early career fights she was involved in. March 3rd 2014- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ayaka Miyao (16-5-1, 1) Vs Buangern Onesongchaigym (10-4-1, 1) The Atomweight division is boxing's lightest division with a divisional limit of 102lbs. Although it's the smallest division, and a division that is only open to women, it is a division that tends to feature a lot of action and is almost entirely dominated by Asian fighters. The stand out champion is Momo Koseki, who has held the WBC title since August 2008, the next best fighter in the division is WBA champion Ayakaya Miyao who defended her title for the 5th defence last March when she battled against Thailand's Buangern Onesongchaigym. Interestingly on the same card Koseki defended her belt against another Onesongchaigym fighter, Angor Onesongchaigym. (Note-Miyao's record as shown on screen is 12-1 (1) that's due to some of her her early bouts not being recognised by the JBC) September 16th 2012- Yomiuri Bunka Hall, Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan Ayaka Miyao (12-5-1, 1) Vs Mari Ando (9-3, 4) Ohashi gym have had numerous successes over the years but one of their most under-rated is female fighter Ayaka Miyao, the current WBA Atomweight champion. Miyao is far from a big name though she is a gutsy and hard working fighter who first came to the attention of hardcore fights fans back in 2012 when she battled domestic compatriot, and then WBA Atomweight champion, Mari Ando. |
