On July 23rd Japanese fans will the chance to see the return to the ring of Akihiro Kondo who, after more than a year out of the ring, returns to action in a battle with former foe Nihito Arakawa more than 4 years after their first clash. The first Kondo/Arakawa bout saw Arakawa taking a narrow decision over Kondo to claim the Japanese Lightweight title. That was a title that Kndo had won just over 8 months earlier with a stunning performance against Ryuji Migaki, a performance you can see below. Migaki went into the bout as the Japanese champion and was defending the belt for the first time since his stoppage victory over Ichitaro Ishii. Whilst it was first defence Migaki he was also riding a wave of confidence having won his previous 13 bouts. That confidence and winning run didn't help him when Kondo hurt him and went to work forcing the referee to stop the bout after just 45 seconds! The ended Migaki's reign after less than 4 months as champion. Incidentally Kondo wasn't the only notable fighter than Migaki fought. He actually holds a win over current Japanese champion Yoshitaka Kato, he lost a decision to the aforementioned Arakawa and he was also stopped, in a round, by current WBC Super Featherweight champion Takashi Miura.
