Back in July fight fans at Korakuen Hall were treat to a special bout as Japanese Bantamweight champion Yuta Saito [齊藤裕太] took on mandatory challenger Yusuke Suzuki [鈴木悠介] in a genuinely brutal bout!

Yusuke Suzuki (6-3, 4) vs Ken Kodama (8-2-1, 3)

This poast week fight fans in Japan saw the under-rated Yusuke Suzuki [鈴木悠介] battle Ken Kodama [児玉堅] in a very well matched bout on paper.

When we talk about fighters that we like we're usually pretty open about who we like and who we don't. One of the more surprising names that we are fans of is Yusaku Kuga, a man who was a relative unknown until late last year when he almost upset the highly touted Naoto Uebayashi. Prior to that bout we had next to no clue as to who Kuga was and we have to hold our hands up and apologise because we really should have made a mental note of him a fight earlier when he defeated Yusuke Suzuki in a very well matched and thoroughly entertaining bout.

The skills that Kuga has now weren't refined here but the bout was still great with some amazing action, especially in the opening round as the two men traded some very heavy leather in some thoroughly enthralling moments of action. We hope you enjoy this one and realise that since this bout both men have moved into serious contention of getting a Japanese title fight in their next few bouts, a great achievement for two fighters who have had to do things "the hard way" and without being matched softly.

With both men progressing well we'll admit we'd love to see a rematch somewhere down the line.
