February 28th 2018-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (21-1, 19) Vs Daniel Roman (23-2-1, 9) This past Wednesday fight fans in Japan saw Ryo Matsumoto [松本亮] challenge WBA Super Bantamweight champion Daniel Roman February 26th 2013-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (5-0, 5) vs John Bajawa (9-2, 5) Later this year we'll see Ryo Matsumoto [松本亮] fight in his first world title bout, as he challenges Daniel Roman. Just over 5 years before the scheduled date of that bout fans in Japan saw Matsumoto take on Indonesian visitor John Bajawa, in what was Matsumoto's 6th professional bout. May 21st 2017-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (19-1, 17) vs Hendrik Barongsay (29-25-3, 18) Earlier this year Japanese fight fans at the Ariake Colosseum saw touted prospect Ryo Matsumoto [松本亮] take on Indonsian veteran Hendrik Barongsay. March 27th 2017-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (18-1, 16) vs Hideo Sakamoto (17-3-3, 5) Earlier this week touted Japanese prospect Ryo Matsumoto [松本 亮] took on the experienced Hideo Sakamoto [坂本 英生] December 30th 2016-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (17-1, 15) vs Victor Uriel Lopez (10-5-1, 4) II At the end of 2015 we saw a major shock as the touted Ryo Matsumoto [松本 亮] lost to Victor Uriel Lopez. Following that loss Matsumoto had surgery to treat a medical condition. The youngster returned at the end of 2016 and took on the Mexican in a rematch. Note - this is the Fuji TV highlights shown as part of a special BS Fuji broadcast and doesn't feature the full fight. December 30th 2016-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (17-1, 15) vs Victor Uriel Lopez (10-5-1, 4) II At the end of 2015 we saw a major shock as the touted Ryo Matsumoto [松本 亮] lost to Victor Uriel Lopez. Following that loss Matsumoto had surgery to treat a medical condition. On his ring return Matsumoto immediately went in with Lopez looking to avenege that defeat. May 8th 2016-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (17-0, 15) Vs Victor Uriel Lopez (8-5-1, 3) Touted Japanese youngster Ryo Matsumoto [松本 亮] was in action earlier this month when he took on upset minded Mexican Victor Uriel Lopez. Note-There is a TV version of this fight in existence, unfortunately we've yet to come across it. December 31st 2011- Bunka Gym, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Ryo Matsumoto (0-0) Vs Petchomthong Sor Tanapinyo (1-3) Recently we stumbled on footage of the debut of Ryo Matsumoto, a man tipped for the top. The bout, which saw Matsumoto take on Petchomthong Sor Tanapinyo, was aired on TV Tokyo and shows some of the early promise of the Japanese youngster who also showed some flaws, many of which have been worked on. Note-The video features some build up as well as the actual fight. |
