April 23rd 2017- EDION Arena Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (12-0, 9) vs Chanchai Saithonggym (0-0) This past Sunday Japanese fans saw the touted Masayoshi Hashizume [橋詰将義] battle against Thai foe Chanchai Saithonggym. December 31st 2016-Shimazu Arena, Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (11-0, 8) vs Chatpetch Saithonggym (0-0) One of the most exciting young Super Featherweights making their name on the Japanese domestic scene is Ioka promoted Masayoshi Hashizume [橋詰 将義] who ended 2016 with a bout against Thai visitor Chatpetch Saithonggym. July 20th 2016-EDION Arena Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (10-0, 7) vs Jakaphan Saengthong (5-0, 5) This past Wednesday fans in Osaka got a treat with a stacked card. Part of the under-card saw the touted Masayoshi Hashizume [橋詰 将義], the latest hopeful from the Ioka Gym, taking on Jakaphan Saengthong, a supposed big puncher from Thailand. December 31st 2015 EDION Arena Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (9-0, 6) vs Ken Menayothin (0-0) The Ioka gym has some really exciting fighters there right now, one of which is Super Flyweight prospect Masayoshi Hashizume who finished 2015 with a bout against Thai visitor Ken Menayothin. (Video courtesy of yossy112311) April 22nd 2015- Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (7-0, 4) Vs Saenrachan Sor Theptanee (0-1) In 2014 we saw Ioka gym's promising Masayoshi Hashizume claim the All-Japan Rookie of the Year crown at Super Flyweight. In his first bout of 2015 he took on Thai visitor Saenrachan Sor Theptanee in a bout that looked like a mismatch on paper. (Video courtesy of yossy112311) December 21st 2014- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Masayoshi Hashizume (6-0, 4) Vs Shogo Yonenaga (6-1, 3) In the Flyweight division at this years All Japan Rookie of the Year fans had, on paper, a treat as the exciting Masayoshi Hashizume took on Shogo Yonenaga in what looked like to be a thrilling contest. Whilst we'll admit the action was exciting the end was somewhat anti-climatic though it is another bout that is well worth a watch. (Video courtesy Nov K) Earlier this year Ioka prospect Masayoshi Hashizume came to our attention as he claimed the Rookie of the West crown with a great win over Takeshi Kajikawa. Just weeks later he was in another important bout as he fought for his place in the All-Japan Rookie of the Year final. In Hashizume's way was Eita Sakurai and unfortunate for Sakurai he was just blown away by Hashizume who made sure he left a lasting impression with an offensive showcase. We won't say Hashizume is even close to being the complete article but it's clear that this young southpaw is going to be very fun to follow and very exciting, and if he can improve at the gym he may end up being yet another Ioka fighter to win a title. (Video courtesy of nov K) One of the best things about the Japanese boxing scene is the "Rookie of the Year" competition which allows young novices as chance to fight similar fighters. Many top Japanese fighters have come through the Rookie of the Year system to make their name and we are getting closer and closer to the All Japan finals for 2014. Before the All Japan we get the finals of the specific areas. One of which is the West. The Super Flyweight Rookie of the West final saw unbeaten men colliding as Masayoshi Hashizume battled Takeshi Kajikawa. Within a minute we knew who the better man was and who would be progressing to the next stage of the tournament and being crowned the champion of the West.
