September 27th 2015-EDION Arena Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Sho Ishida (19-0, 10) Vs Hayato Kimura (23-7, 15) Earlier this year Japanese fans had the chance to see Kazuto Ioka defend his WBA Flyweight title against Roberto Domingo Sosa. On the same card Ioka's stablemate Sho Ishida was in action defending his Japanese Super Flyweight title against the experienced Hayato Kimura.

August 2014-Japan Hinata Maruta (N/A) Vs Yuto Tanaka (N/A) We are just a few short weeks away from the professional debut of Japanese youngster Hinata Maruta, a man touted as the next superstar of Japanese boxing. With the count down well under-way we have managed to hunt down one of Maruta's amateur bouts, a contest with Yuto Tanaka from a 2014 tournament that saw Maruta claim a runner up medal. This bout was the quarter final of the competition and showed some of the promise that has seen him become to highly regarded ahead of even throwing a punch in the proessional ranks. October 12th 2015-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ken Shiro (4-0, 3) Vs Rolly Sumalpong (9-0-1, 4) This past week we saw fast rising Japanese prospect Ken Shiro take on unbeaten Filipino Rolly Sumalpong in a bout for the WBC Youth Light Flyweight title. Note-The end of this video features a portion of an under-card fight between Ricky Sismundo and Yoshitaka Kato. April 19th 2009-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Tomonbu Shimizu (14-3, 5) Vs Shigetaka Ikehara (17-1-1, 13) In 2011 Tomonobu Shimizu claimed the WBA Super Flyweight world title in what was his third world title show. Prior to that he had been a Japanese champion and in 2009 he defended the national title against the heavy handed Shigetaka Ikehara. October 4th 2015-Sunhak Gymnasium, Incheon, South Korea Ryan Sermona (17-7, 10) Vs Taek Min Kim (15-7, 10) Some times we get matches that, on paper, look really well matched but they fail to be as competitive as we'd suspect. One such example took place in Korea as Taek Min Kim battled Filipino fight Ryan Sermona. October 4th- Sunhak Gymnasium Incheon, South Korea Muhammad Waseem (0-0) Vs Min Wook Lee (2-2) Recently fight fans in Korea saw an impressive debut from Pakistani fighter Muhammad Waseem, who under the promotion of AK Promotions made his debut in a Korean title bout. Waseem's opponent was Korean fighter Min Wook Lee, a limited but gutsy fighter who had come to upset the Waseem hype. October 4th-Sunhak Gymnasium, Incheon, South Korea Randall Bailey (45-8-0-1, 38) Vs Shusaku Fujinaka (12-5-2, 8) Recently the attention of boxing fans was turned towards South Korea as former world champion Randall Bailey began his association with AK Promotions and made his Korean debut. The "Knock Out King" took on the upset minded Shusaku Fujinaka of Japan in what an entertaining bout that saw both men turn up to win. February 7th 2004-Joe Cantada Boxing Arena, Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines Mercito Gesta (1-0) Vs Terry Tayao (0-0) Filipino fight fans have, over the last decade or so, been excited about Mercito Gesta. Whilst he's perhaps not become the fighter that many expected he did, at times, look like a star in the making, as seen when he took on Terry Tayao, very early in his career, October 10th-Chuncheon, South Korea Hyun Min Gang (2-0, 2) Vs Suk Yun Hong (1-1, 1) A recent rookie bout in Korea saw promising puncher Hyun Min Gang battle Suk Yun Hong in a 4 round bout in Incheon. October 10th-Chuncheon, South Korea Kyung Gun Choi (0-0-1) Vs Dong Woo Kim (0-0) A recent all Korean rookie bout saw the unbeaten Kyung Gun Choi battle the debuting Dong Woo Kim. |
