Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, USA
This coming Saturday we'll be focused on Brooklyn, New York, where we expect to see the US debut of Uzbekistan's Jamshidbek Najmitdinov (17-1, 14), who takes on Will Madera (16-1-3, 9), in what us a genuine must win bout for the Uzbekistani. The talented Najmitdinov is best known for his hugely controversial loss, in 2017, to Viktor Postol and has sadly been unable to secure any other fights of note since then. Aged 31 now Najmitdinov is at the point where he needs to begin to make an impact, and a win on US soil here would do just that, and help him get in the mix for big fights down the line. Madera, who is 30 himself, is best known for being stopped in a round last year by Felxi Verdejo, and will be looking to score his second win since that bout., On paper he has a decent looking record, but in reality it's hard to say much about his ability given how limited most of his opponents have been so far. The reality here seems to be that Madera has been selected as an opponent to make Najmitdinov look good, and little else.
